Hat-wearing langur capped langur

Chinese name: hat-wearing langur (pinyin: dài mào yè hóu);

English name: capped langur;

Scientific name: trachypithecus pileatus.

The hooded langur is a larger species of langur in the genus Monkey family, distributed in northeastern India, Bangladesh, northern Myanmar and southwestern China, and is only found in China in the Gongshan area of northwestern Yunnan. Because of the long and soft fluff on the top of its head, it looks like a hat, so it got its name. The ends of the face, limbs and tail are black, and the rest are gray. Its habitats include subtropical and tropical dry forests. Gregarious, foraging in the early morning and evening, feeding on leaves, fruits, flowers, seeds and bark. Due to habitat destruction and loss, the number is decreasing day by day, and it is a national level protected animal in China.

The IUCN Red List is listed as: Vulnerable (vu)

Male hat-wearing langurs have a head length of 53–71 cm, a tail length of 86–100 cm and a weight of 11.5–14 kg. Female hat-wearing langurs are 49–66 cm long at head, 83–96 cm long at the tail and weigh 9.5–11.5 kg.

The hooded langur is found in northeastern India, Bangladesh, northern Myanmar and southwestern China, and is found only in northwestern Yunnan in China around the Gongshan Mountains.
