The performance also often has the shadow of Mei Lanfang, and soon Gu Zhengqiu became famous, thus also having the title of "Taiwan Mei Lanfang".

In the 1950s, if the crime of "interlocutory banditry" in Taiwan was confirmed, it would face the disaster of imprisonment at worst, and lose his life at worst. In 1975, Ren Xianqun died of lung cancer at the age of 64. After Ren Xianqun's death, his wife Zhang Junqian took her and Ren Xianqun's 4 children to the United States, and Ren Xianqun asked Gu Zhengqiu to bury himself in that small village after a hundred years.
