As the saying goes, "No one is perfect, no one is perfect." Because the weight of the title "perfect person" is too heavy, people generally do not use it easily, and it will only be used when future generations remember the ancients and remember the deceased. First of all, I will briefly introduce the life of Xu Shilin. Although Xu Shilin was born in Shuxiangmendi, his family lineage is far from prominent, his grandfather and father have no meritorious name, and his life is not rich, as Xu Shilin himself later said: "The subject is poor and poor, and the nature is straight. ”
Xu Shilin's later life trajectory can be regarded as a typical example of the ancient "Hanmen Noble Son". He studied hard, and on the occasion of his establishment, he passed the examination and entered the DPRK as an official.
He successively served as the secretary of the cabinet, the chief of the Punishment Department, the chief of the Ceremonial Department, the foreign lang of the Ceremonial Department, the prefect of Anqing Province, and the envoy of Jiangsu Province. In the last year of the Yongzheng Dynasty, he was demoted from an envoy to Fujian Daotai because of an incident, at this time he was close to fifty years old, and he was demoted again, as if he could no longer see the future of his career. However, after entering the Qianlong Dynasty, he made a comeback and rose from Daotai to Henan envoy, and from Henan to Jiangsu envoy.
In the Qing system, once the inspector is vacant, the successor is selected in the same province, usually the envoy. In the fifth year of Qianlong, Xu Shilin was promoted from jiangsu envoy to inspector of Jiangsu and became a feudal official. Because Jiangsu was the rich and powerful place of the Qing Dynasty, the position of inspector of Jiangsu was also particularly important. However, Xu Shilin did not serve as the inspector of Jiangsu for a long time, because of his poor physical condition, he repeatedly asked for resignation. In the sixth year of Qianlong, he passed away for a long time.
Xu Shilin has been an official for more than thirty years, and has always maintained a frugal habit of being a scholar, and has a good reputation.
