The "2021 World Mental Health Day" theme activity, co-sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and the Shanghai Disabled Persons' Federation, and jointly organized by the Shanghai Mental Health Center, the Shanghai Municipal Sub-Center for Disease Prevention and Control, and the Shanghai Psychological Rehabilitation Association, was held today at the Shanghai Science Hall. This year, the theme of China's World Mental Health Day is "Youth Of Hearts, Youth of Youth", which is also the third time since World Mental Health Day in 2004 that China has focused on children and adolescents.
Helping children and adolescents get out of the "labyrinth of hearts"
As the most important force for social development, children and adolescent groups represent hope and the future. At the same time, children's adolescence is also a "stormy" stage. Many mental health problems begin in childhood and adolescence, with about half of mental health problems exposed before the age of 15, and three-quarters of people with mental disorders first developing psychiatric symptoms before the age of 24. Therefore, childhood and adolescence are important time nodes for us to advocate mental health care throughout the life cycle.
At present, the situation of psychological problems in children and adolescents is not optimistic. According to the World Health Organization, as many as 1 billion children worldwide experienced physical, psychological or sexual violence in 2015; suicide is one of the top five causes of death among adolescents aged 15 to 19 years and the second leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 29 years. About 30 million of the 340 million children and adolescents under the age of 17 in China are plagued by emotional disorders and psychobehavioral problems.
In recent years, the number of outpatient clinics in the departments of psychology in minor psychiatrists and general hospitals in China has increased year by year, showing a significant upward trend. Adolescent mental health problems not only affect their own health, academics, social skills and development potential, but also extend into adulthood and even a lifetime, ultimately affecting the socio-economic and cultural development process, bringing a comprehensive and far-reaching impact on individuals, families and society.
Zhang Hao, deputy director of the Municipal Health Commission, called on parents to care about their children's mental health as they do to physical health, create a good family environment for children, and timely support and assist children to seek professional help; call on teenagers to take the initiative to learn mental health knowledge and skills and bravely speak their hearts; call on the whole society, including the media, enterprises and people from all walks of life, to pay attention to the mental health of children and adolescents, and jointly build a mental health protection network; at the same time, treat all patients with mental disorders equally and eliminate discrimination and prejudice.
On September 1 this year, with the support of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and the Shanghai Municipal Communications Administration, led by the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission, and jointly established and implemented by the Shanghai Mental Health Center and the Shanghai Municipal Health Promotion Center, the "Shanghai Psychological Hotline 962525" was regrouped and set off and officially launched today. Since the trial run, the "962525" has won the trust and praise of the general public, and the number of answers in more than one month has exceeded the sum of the first 8 months of this year, children and adolescents account for a quarter, and the mental health needs of citizens have been fully released. In order to make this psychological hotline more deeply rooted in people's hearts and help more people remember and find it, the logo of "962525" - the red "heart labyrinth" also met with the public today. The main body of the logo is a "heart" like a "labyrinth", but also represents a long telephone line. Everyone may encounter difficulties and fall into a psychological maze, and the hotline is the support and help to help citizens untie the knot and get out of the maze.
They bravely speak their minds at "Sweet Home"
In order to let the public have a deeper understanding of the stories behind the mental rehabilitation, eliminate prejudice and discrimination, the Shanghai Mental Health Center, together with 16 district-level mental health centers in the city and the Sunshine Heart Garden in various streets and towns, jointly built the online charity sale platform "Sweet Home" for mental rehabilitation works. Exquisite woven bags, elegant bamboo carvings, gorgeous abstract paintings... Today, the Green Ribbon "Together" mental rehabilitation product public welfare live charity sale was officially opened, which is also the first time that the works of patients with mental disorders have been released to the public in the form of "rehabilitation story + online live charity sale".
