Labyrinth of Hearts: Everyone has secrets

The English name in the "Labyrinth of Hearts" film is "Deep in the Heart", but somehow the English translation name that is widely circulated on the Internet is called "The Coffin in the Mountain" (Coffin Mountain), and it was later learned that it was the result of several modifications by the program team in order to pass the review. "Coffin Mountain" is the original title. Labyrinth of hearts is always easy to associate with Western religious mythology.

However, it is completely a suspense film with national characteristics, high quality and depth.

The feeling of watching the first time... I have only seen such a cow movie now!

The plot is a huge suspense at the beginning: on the one hand, the woman is facing the deceased's posthumous photo Wearing a ma dai filial piety for three days, but on the other hand, it reveals that on the mountain road, the truck driver tried to stone the person riding the car, and the person was the deceased in the photo.

With curiosity to explore the mysterious species, I tried to guess the progress of the whole follow-up. However, what happened afterwards completely overturned the reasoning at the beginning.

The key to solving the case lies in the timeline and the behavior of the characters. However, the director of this film completely dismantled the most fundamental element of "time" and deconstructed the events experienced in parallel time from the perspective of each relevant character, overlapping or connecting with each other. Scattered jigsaw puzzle plots, let the audience's brain every moment is overclocking to invoke logical thinking to try to piece together a complete story line.

This is somewhat similar to fragmentary reverse narrative in Fragments of Memory. However, "Fragments of Memory" is at least a retrospective process with the male protagonist as a single main line, and this film also adds the character slicing narrative of "Satan's Tango", plus the entanglement of the relationship between the people in the film, making the plot more confusing.

The film does not have a real protagonist: everyone is the protagonist of their own life, and they are also the supporting roles in the lives of others.

At first, Xiao Zongyao returned home from the city and exposed his family's internal contradictions: close to his gentle mother, and poor relations with the village chief's father. It is quite a bit like the situation mentioned in the "Langya List" that "the father does not know the son, and the son does not know the father".

The mother mentioned the grandfather who "accidentally burned himself to death because he burned the wild grass".

So the father and son went to the flowing water mat of the funeral, and in the face of the speech on the father's seat, the son only looked at the mobile phone and was not moved at all. That night, because the two encountered the threat and blackmail of the white tiger during the meeting, the son killed the white tiger by mistake and was forced to flee. When Xiao Zongyao finally decided to go back and surrender after 2 days of inner torment and ideological struggle, he unexpectedly found that everything was settled and there was nothing wrong.

At this point, the mystery is getting bigger and bigger, and more doubts have emerged:

The White Tiger was killed by Zong Yao during the dispute, why did the villagers say that he was burned?

Where did the wound on Wang Baoshan's face come from when he stopped Huang Huan?

What happened to Da Zhuang, who tried to murder Li Qin's husband?

Since then, all the plots have been interspersed with each other through the timelines of the two main lines of "county town" and "mountain village", gradually solving the whole mystery.

The initial focus was on Wang Baoshan, and his affair with Liqin and various strange accidents made people have to think that he was the murderer of Chen Zili. However, things took an unexpected turn.

Especially when the whole village helped Liqin handle her husband's funeral the next day, Dazhuang actually met the "dead" Chen Zili on the mountain road with a frightened look, which not only clarified Wang Baoshan's suspicions, but also let the plot enter the second stage of the enigmatic situation.

If Chen Zili is not dead, then who is the corpse in the coffin?

Has the body of the White Tiger been found?

How many people died in the whole incident?

Da Zhuang did not kill Chen Zili in the end, and the latter accidentally fell off a cliff, which directly led to the further complication of the plot and the whereabouts of the coffin became a mystery.

The eldest brother of the Bai family was forced into debt by the creditor of the younger brother, and this side line really revealed the inside story. In fact, at this moment, it can already be guessed that the father of the village chief carried out follow-up treatment of the body in order to help his son evade the punishment of the law. What is puzzling is how the death of the white tiger went through the process of going around and finally settling the dust.

In the first half of the plot, in the face of the mistakenly recognized corpse, each character has a full murder motive and suspicion, and the second half is directly reversed, and no one can imagine that the village chief who was the most unlikely to commit a crime was actually the real murderer who destroyed the corpse and single-handedly contributed to the "ownerless coffin".

Rather than breaking the vase and then stitching it together, I think it's closer to Yokozuna Masashi.

The ending formed an absurd irony: the main lord, the white tiger, was treated as a white outsider, the coffin could not enter the ancestral grave, the village chief's father resigned and lost his rights, but the son opened his mouth and called out "Dad", while Huang Huan in the distance took out the "missing" medal from his pocket.

Labyrinth of Hearts: Everyone has secrets

Ignorance is a good companion to lies, but it is also a stumbling block to lies.

The film is set in a remote mountain village, which reminds me of an animated short film I once watched, "The Death of the Gospel", which is an area where the popularity of the modern legal system is seriously lacking, and also provides a very grounded, necessary and reasonable background for the development of the whole event. It is destined to be a lifelong dedication to the villagers of the village chief father identity and speech has an authoritative, the villagers' blind trust has a foothold, but also the most critical factor in the process of promoting the whole incident.

There are two places where authority is demonstrated:

1. It is the "ear to face life" of the village chief at the beginning of The funeral of Old Master Sun, which also achieves the premise of concealing the sky and crossing the sea in the follow-up plot.

Labyrinth of Hearts: Everyone has secrets

2. The son's current work is to benefit from his father's good reputation and political achievements.

In the plot of the opening chapter of the village chief's house ~ flowing water seat, the story explains several clues, which constitute the key point of the development of all subsequent events.

1. Time and space: remote areas / winter / inaccessible hillsides

2. Cause of death: Burning wild grass accidentally burned himself to death / fell off a cliff

3. Emotions: Through the mother, connecting the village chief's concern for her son / LiQin and Wang Baoshan, DaZhuang's ambiguity / and Xiao Zongyao's huang huan

And the understatement that the plot initially buried is the real watershed of the whole event.

Yes, it is "repair, pig, circle"!

Pulling the camera back to the shot of his son Xiao Zongyao just returning home, you will find the shot of the village chief repairing the pigsty at home. This flashing grass snake gray line, and then through the mother's phone, the white tiger big brother's consultation if there is a seemingly insignificant close to the direction of the plot, and finally sneaked out and caused 10,000 physical critical hits to the audience!

A flowing coffin, witnessing the hidden gray areas of human nature. On the surface, the lie seems to have given everyone the desired result, but in fact it pulls everyone to the purgatory deep inside their hearts. Even the White Tiger himself ended up suffering a ridiculous and sad ending because of his lies.

Each person's personality and contradictory relationship with each other are the strongest cornerstones, and together they promote the plot of the coffin flow.

The director, who is also the screenwriter, Xin Yukun, really considers all the brain-burning details completely, and there are so-called "coincidences" in the story, but it is completely based on the "rationality" of the character relationship and the development of things.

After watching the film, the mental shock I received, there is no need to say anything but amazement.

Who says there are no good films in China? If you want to say why it didn't catch fire, you can probably only blame the actors for not being famous enough and have a bad image? The actors in it look like "national per capita value" that cannot be found in the pile of people, and even some indecency causes visual adverse reactions. If the audience's first impression of the character is not good, it is easy to affect the amount of playback and popularity of the movie.

It's just that people who are eager to make quick profits, the viewing orientation is mainly based on appearance and youth, so it is not surprising to see a bunch of bad films with handsome men and beautiful women as the selling point.

Feng Xiaogang's public "garbage audience" probably refers to this group of people, right?
