Former Manchester United players have called rivals 'number one contenders' to win premier league titles.

Former Manchester United striker Luis Saha called Liverpool the "number one contender" for this season's Premier League title, ahead of Manchester City.

Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League. They trailed Thomas Tutchell by three points for Chelsea.

Jurgen Klopp's side are unbeaten in ten matches and have now won six and drawn four.

Meanwhile, United are fifth in the table. They have lost three games, beaten by Aston Villa, Leicester City and Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure right now and his side will face rival Manchester City at home at Old Trafford on Saturday.

According to Metropolis Daily, Saha believes Liverpool are favourites to win the title:

"It's hard to say, but Liverpool.

"Judging by the way they play, they have the best strikers, strong attacking power, and a strong base of the backline. Their midfield has also been tough.

"They definitely have a squad. Manchester City, when they reach form, it's hard to predict teams outside of them.

"I really want Manchester United, in a way, and Chelsea, to be able to compete. But, for me, Liverpool are the best right now. ”

In addition, Noel Whelan suggested That United replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Brandon Rodgers:

"In my opinion, there is no doubt that this will be a surprising date.

"He's been the best coach in the Premier League for some time.

"I know he has turned down other jobs because of his situation in Leicester. He has a great team of players there and he has built a true spirit of victory at the club.

"They had a good balance in Leicester, very attractive and very successful. Who wouldn't want Brendan Rodgers to stay at Manchester United?

"In my opinion, he is on par with someone like Condé. He has been excellent in Leicester.

"He won the FA Cup for Leicester City, cementing their position in the top four.

"You usually say they don't have the right to get to that level, but Rogers made that possible."
