Although Shakespeare used Julius Caesar as the title, Caesar was not the protagonist of the play.

Shakespeare cites Caesar's assassination shortly after his triumphant return as a clue, focusing more on revealing how the attitudes of ordinary people have changed, how conspirators have set traps, how murderers justify themselves, and how proponents have fought back.

Although this script is concerned with the dangerous political battlefield behind the scenes, we can also see that in the open political contest for popular support, the generous statements of Brutus and Antony play a pivotal role.
