Last time we talked about Liu Zongyuan and Liu Yuxi, a pair of close friends who share weal and woe, and their lives have supported each other, which is really valuable and very promising. But the pair we want to talk about today is more regrettable, they have gone from confidants to passers-by, from mutual appreciation to hostility, from nothing to talk about to old and dead.
They are Zhang Ailing and Yan Ying.

Zhang Ailing is a famous novelist in the Republic of China, born in Shuxiangmendi, and became famous very early. When she was studying at the University of Hong Kong, she met Yan Sakura.
Yan Ying was a mixed-race child, his father was an Arab Ceylonian (present-day Sri Lanka), he opened a Mohidian jewelry store in Shanghai (which should be the jewelry store described in the color ring), and his mother was a Native of Tianjin. When she was young, Yan Ying's personality was lively and cheerful, innocent and romantic, which complemented Zhang Ailing's cold and arrogant personality.
Zhang Ailing has never been stingy to express her love for this confidant, she once wrote: "In this world, I am afraid that only Yan Ying can buy a scarf that satisfies me, and it is not possible to change anyone." Including Alice or Kwong Wenmei, Yan Ying is irreplaceable. Possibly, no one can replace it. Even the name Yan Ying was Chinese name given to her by Zhang Ailing.
They watch movies together, go shopping, buy snacks, buy clothes, and bask in each other's friendships. They all like to draw, and the illustrations of many of Zhang Ailing's works are completed by Yan Ying, and many of the clothes Zhang Ailing wears are also designed by Yan Ying. They were once suspected of being gay. Yan Ying is also a witness to Zhang Ailing's two marriages.
At this time, their families were in a similar situation.
After the fall of Hong Kong, Yan Ying and Zhang Ailing returned to Shanghai, and zhang Ailing quickly became famous because of the two novels "Agarwood Crumbs First Burning Incense" and "Agarwood Crumbs Second Burning Incense".
Although Yan Ying has a solid life, her writing has also attracted the attention of some writers, but the number is too small and short, and only six or seven articles have been found so far.
Zhang Ailing was extremely popular in Shanghai, and her popularity far overshadowed the limelight of Yan Ying. The gap between the two made Yan Ying feel a psychological shadow, and she once spit out acid water: "You don't know how annoying it is to go out with Ailing now, a group of little schoolgirls are singing 'Zhang Ailing! Zhang ailing! The older girl looked back up and down. "Even foreigners came forward to ask for signatures.
When we look through the information, we will find that during this period, Yan Ying rarely expressed her love for Zhang Ailing, which also proved this point.
In 1947, Zhang Ailing divorced Hu Lancheng. In 1949, the Yanying family left Shanghai and went to Japan.
In 1952, Zhang Ailing went to Japan, which is considered to be a defection to Yan Sakura. However, after Zhang Ailing arrived in Japan, she found that everything was already non-human.
Three months later, when Zhang Ailing returned to Hong Kong, she told Kwong: "I can understand that Yan Ying wrote from Japan saying that 'I have done several Bills (billions) of business by virtue of my poor Japanese language'. If I were in her position, I would be exactly the same as her, so I was surprised and admired to see one or two people who didn't take money too seriously. ”
From Zhang Ailing's words, it is not difficult for us to find that Yan Ying lived a solid and happy life in Japan, and Zhang Ailing at this time not only suffered a failure in marriage, but also reached a low point in her career. Such a contrast makes Zhang Ailing, who has always been proud and lonely, have a psychological gap. It can also be seen that Zhang Ailing has developed some dissatisfaction with Yan Ying.
In 1955, Zhang Ailing went to the United States. In the United States, Zhang Ailing met Laiya, and her fate was not good. Yan Sakura meets a wealthy businessman and lives a good life. Yan Ying is outgoing and talkative, due to the charm of the personality, the ability to survive in a strange environment is stronger, Zhang Ailing is more sensitive and taciturn, the two meet with Hu Shi together, originally Yan Ying wanted to help Zhang Ailing, but Hu Shi had a deeper impression of Yan Ying and stole the limelight of Zhang Ailing.
Obviously, the home of the two has changed at this time. Zhang Ailing is far away from her homeland, not known for a while, her living ability is poor, and the scenery of the past is gradually declining. Whether in Japan or in the United States, Yan Ying can find more feelings than she can, Yan Ying has a ship owner proposal as soon as she arrives in Japan, and in New York, it is also relying on her interpersonal relationship that Zhang Ailing was able to enter the Salvation Army's poor people's relief center.
The change of circumstances made Yan Ying's original high posture more prominent, and Zhang Ailing's dissatisfaction with her original was getting worse and worse. I think that after the classmates flew yellow and tengda, Zhang Ailing must have deeply felt it.
Yan Ying once wrote several letters to Zhang Ailing, but Zhang Ailing did not reply.
At the beginning of a letter, Yan Sakura says, "I don't know what I did wrong, so that you don't pay attention to me." But in the next content, Yan Ying began to boast about how much money she earned, completely ignoring Zhang Ailing's gloomy mood at that time.
She not only boasts of her wealth, but also often flaunts her happiness. She once wrote to Zhang Ailing: "Have you ever thought that I am a beautiful girl?" I never thought I was beautiful, but George (Yan Sakura's husband) said that I was dishonest, but it's true, when I was young no one said I was beautiful, never, only George said, I think it was because he loved me..."
Every word she said seemed to be telling Zhang Ailing that I was doing well now.
Maybe Yan Sakura's boasting is just a habit, not necessarily trying to gain the upper hand over friends, maybe this kind of boasting has a kind of cuteness and bluntness of hers, but it is also somewhat shallow. In short, in Zhang Ailing's view, you are nothing more than to tell me that you have a better life than me, and Zhang Ailing, who has always been high, is very disgusted and disgusted by this.
Later, Zhang Ailing died of loneliness in the United States, and Yan Ying did not attend her funeral. Two girlfriends who once had nothing to talk about have developed into old and dead, which is really regrettable.
