Excerpt from the Book of Life, February 15 Direct observation

Why are concepts rooted in our hearts? Why are facts less important than concepts? Why is the theory or concept more important than the fact? Is it because we can't know the facts, because we don't have the ability to know the facts, or because we are afraid to face the facts? It is because of the fear of facing the facts that a bunch of concepts, speculations, or theories are formed.

You may try all kinds of ways to escape, but facts are facts — things like anger, ambition, or sexual desire in your heart. You may be able to hold on to these things and transform them into another form, but they are always suppressed by various ideas... Don't ideas waste our energy? Doesn't it dull the mind? You may be very good at deducing and quoting other people's words, but obviously your mind is not sharp. If you can face the facts, your energy will be unimpeded, then in that instant you will be able to remove the conflict in your heart. We often think about one thing and do another, so most people are subject to conflict and contradiction in our hearts. If you can face the desire to do something, there will be no conflict in your heart, and then you can concentrate on the truth in front of you and understand this truth.
