Anyone who has seen the movie The Wandering Earth should be impressed by one of the machines inside, it's a mining excavator, not an ordinary excavator, because it's so big that it's hard to believe it exists in the real world. Moreover, "The Wandering Earth" just happens to be another science fiction movie, which makes the public more convinced that such a huge excavator must be fictional.

However, there are always things in this world that come as a surprise. The giant excavator in "The Wandering Earth" really exists in this world, it is called "Bagger 288", it is the prototype of the giant excavator in the science fiction movie "The Wandering Earth", the production team uses it to shoot movies, its size is so large that people have a kind of "giant phobia", and the excavation efficiency can be said to be able to level a mountain in a day.
The Bagger 288 is a giant open-pit mining vehicle owned by a German coal mining company, the largest movable machine on the earth's land surface, built by the German Krupp builder, which has a lifespan of fifty or sixty years and is one of five brother machines. There are several data that amply show that the Bagger 288 is a cruiser-class giant in every way.
First look at its total length, about 220 meters, converted to 220 meters; followed by the height, about 96 meters, that is, 96 meters, equivalent to the height of more than thirty floors; and then the mass, such a long and so tall behemoth, the weight is naturally unimaginable, reaching a staggering 13500 tons. It is these capitals that make it both "the world's largest excavator" and "the largest movable machinery on the surface" two titles.
Of course, such a large excavator is certainly not low in cost, and extremely expensive, from design to completion of a total of 100 million US dollars spent, you can buy countless ordinary excavators. However, there are also reasons for being expensive, the two huge and domineering bucket wheels in front of the Bagger 288 have 18 buckets, which alone have to be driven by 4 large motors, and the overall installed capacity reaches 16560 kilowatts.
The Bagger 288 has a total of 12 tracks made of high-strength materials and equipped with high-power motors, the front 8 and the back 4, which must be operated by five people at the same time, moving very slowly, about 2 to 10 meters (meters) per minute, but its rotary mining wheel can eat 240,000 tons of earth and stone per day. It is no exaggeration to say that it can flatten a mountain in a single day.
Although its work efficiency is very high, it is not always useful everywhere, and the particularity of the Bagger 288 body shape determines the particularity of its working environment. The first thing to consider is the softness and hardness of the foundation, if the foundation is too soft, the whole machine will sink in, not to mention moving, after all, its super high weight is there. Therefore, to use Bagger 288, it is necessary to choose a plot with a hard enough foundation.
Once upon a time, the Bagger series of excavators was at the top of the world's largest mining machinery. To this end, there are still many film and television works that appear in it today. However, in reality, it is difficult to see such excavators again, because its design, manufacturing process is quite time-consuming (at least five years), and the cost is so high that it has long been discontinued, so it has slowly faded out of sight.
