PARIS, Feb. 10 (Wang Qinming) -- On wednesday and Thursday nights, a McDonald's restaurant in Cheviré, Nantes, was destroyed overnight, and thieves drove an excavator to knock down the walls of McDonald's in order to steal McDonald's cash.
On Thursday, Feb. 10, a McDonald's restaurant in the western French city of Nantes was damaged by an excavator on Wednesday night, according to France Information.
Until, Thursday morning, the machine was abandoned in the restaurant. The thieves went to great lengths to steal only about 3,000 euros from the cash register, but the McDonald's building was extensively damaged and more than 40 employees working at the McDonald's lost their jobs overnight.
The ruined McDonald's restaurant is located on rue de la Janvraie, at the foot of the Cheviré bridge, in the western part of the town.
Part of the mcDonald's façade was pushed off by excavators, and the main structure of the building was damaged. The restaurant will have to be closed for several weeks.
The burglars stole the excavator from a nearby construction site and drove the excavator directly into the cash register area inside the restaurant," where guests can order and pick up meals. It is uncertain how many of the thieves stole between 2,000 and 3,000 euros.
To avoid layoffs, the more than 40 employees will be assigned to other restaurants in town until they reopen.
