Sun Simiao once lived in seclusion in the North Wutai Mountain in the east of present-day Yao County, Shaanxi Province, and in order to commemorate him, later generations renamed this mountain "Yaowang Mountain", and built the Yaowang Ancestral Hall here. In addition, Ming Longqing's six-year-old carved "Thousand Golden Treasures" and "Sea Fang" contain nearly a thousand important prescriptions.

There are so many excellent practitioners in history, why is only Sun Simiao known as the "King of Medicine"? In addition to his medical skills, what kind of precious spiritual wealth did Sun Simiao leave to future generations? Let us take these questions with us and follow the author to approach the Sui and Tang Dynasty divine doctor Sun Simiao.

Regarding the age of the "Medicine King" Sun Simiao at the time of his death, there are six theories in the historical circles, and among these six theories, the life expectancy of the Medicine King ranges from 101 years to 165 years old. Although historians are not sure how many years the medicine king lived, sun Simiao lived past one hundred years, which is a rare elderly person in ancient times.

Sun Simiao is both a medical practitioner and a centenarian himself, so his medical theory is very convincing. To this day, Sun Simiao's medical books are still regarded as classics and have certain guiding significance for the development of Chinese medicine. Genius is inseparable from hard work and talent, Sun Simiao entered school at the age of seven, reciting thousands of words of articles every day, "reciting a thousand words a day". By the time Sun Simiao passed the age of the weak crown, he was already able to integrate the teachings of the Hundred Sons and Hundred Schools, and also dabbled in miscellaneous knowledge, and was called "Holy Child" by the people at that time.

Although Sun Simiao was erudite and talented, he was not interested in joining the army. He felt that it was inevitable that he would be too sophisticated and restrained when he became an official. Therefore, the young Sun Simiao refused many imperial court grants, and even Emperor Wen of Sui made him a doctor of the state, and Sun Simiao also fell ill and politely refused the emperor's kindness. After Li Shimin ascended the throne, he summoned Sun Simiao to the imperial palace and found that Sun Simiao, who was more than a year old, had a physical appearance and mental outlook that of a young man, believing that Sun Simiao was an immortal.

Therefore, Li Shimin said to him: "When I saw you, I believe that there are people who have attained enlightenment in the world, and immortals like Xianmen and Guangchengzi must also exist, and it is definitely not a lie in the world." Therefore, in order to keep Sun Simiao, Tang Taizong allowed his high-ranking official Houlu, but was again rejected by Sun Simiao, and Li Shimin was very sorry. After Emperor Gaozong of Tang ascended the throne, he wanted Sun Simiao to enter the palace as an official, but he was also not allowed. Moreover, hearing that Sun Simiao was hidden in the city, Emperor Gaozong selected a good horse from the treasure as a gift for Sun Simiao and rewarded him with a mansion, but Sun Simiao was still unmoved.

Because of Sun Simiao's noble integrity, the celebrities at that time admired him as a person, including many literati of Song Lingwen, Meng Yi, and Lu Zhaolin, who treated Sun Simiao with the courtesy of the head of the waiter.

Once, Lu Zhaolin asked Sun Simiao: "Why can a divine doctor treat a difficult disease that others are helpless to do?" Sun Simiao's answer is quite philosophical, and it can also be seen that he has a deep attainment in medicine: "Those who govern the country need to master the changes in the Heavenly Dao, so as to participate in politics and personnel affairs, and they do not know that the healers also need to master the laws of the changes in the Heavenly Dao." Everything has five elements, and there are four seasons in a year, so how do they rotate between them? ”

Moreover, he also said: "The 'qi' of the Heavenly Dao will manifest as rain when it is harmonious; it will manifest as a fierce wind when it is angry; it will manifest as frost and fog when it condenses; and it will manifest as a rainbow when it is open." This is the law of change in the Heavenly Dao, and there are similar laws of change in the human body. Human behavior is dominated by limbs and five internal organs, moving every morning, resting at night, spitting out accumulated waste, and inhaling fresh air. The 'qi' emitted by the human body flows around the body to form camp qi and guard qi. If these two qi are introverted, they can manifest themselves in the mind and show their mental outlook; if these two qi are released externally, they can make sounds, which is the law of human body change. ”

Not only that, he also believes that "the yin and yang in nature are not fundamentally different from the yin and yang in the human body." When the yin and yang of the human body are unbalanced, there will be various symptoms, such as: when the people's qi and blood are up, they will be full of heat; when the qi and blood are not smooth, the whole body will be cold; the accumulation of qi and blood will produce tumors and excesses in the body, and the sinking of qi and blood will form carbuncles; when the qi and blood rush, people will be physically weak and weak; when the qi and blood are exhausted, people will lose their spirit. These symptoms are obvious, just like in nature, and everything in heaven and earth is like this. ”

Finally, Sun Simiao also summed up the method of diagnosis and treatment of the practitioner: "The bold desire is large and the heart is small, and the wisdom desire is round and the action is desired." If you want to cure a patient, first of all, you must have the confidence to dare to overcome the disease, which is for "boldness"; secondly, you also need to be cautious as walking on thin ice, for "small heart"; the so-called "wisdom circle" means that when encountering unexpected situations, it is eclectic and adaptable; the so-called "action" is not to fight for power and profit, maintain integrity in words and deeds, and contain a broad world in the heart.

This is the qualified practitioner in Sun Simiao's heart.

In fact, how did Sun Simiao's "medical path" not only provide the practitioners with ideological guidelines? From the perspective of being a human being, if you want to become a person who has the responsibility to achieve great things, you must not leave this way.

Sun Simiao is a first-class medical scientist in ancient China's medical ethics, especially his emphasis on medical ethics is admired by future generations. Later generations of practitioners have all used it as a benchmark for medical ethics, and Sun Simiao's deeds have also been passed down as a good story in the field of history. In Sun Simiao's "A Thousand Golden Fangs", before explaining medical science to the world, Sun Simiao first put forward the idea of "great medical sincerity" and put the norms of medical ethics in the most important position.

He devoted his life to writing books, and in his later years lived in seclusion in his hometown of Jingzhao Huayuan (present-day Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province) Wutai Mountain (Yaowang Mountain) to concentrate on writing until the year of Bai Shou, and did not try to release the scrolls.
