On December 22, the first exhibition of "Cross-sectional Landscape - 2019 Shandong Youth Oil Painting Exhibition" hosted by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shandong Province, organized by Shandong Art Museum, Shandong Oil Painting Society and Tai'an Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and co-organized by Tai'an Art Museum and Tai'an Oil Painting Society, was unveiled at Tai'an Art Museum. This exhibition aims to further sort out the history of the development of oil painting in Shandong, display and review the development of oil painting in Shandong Province in the past 70 years, effectively summarize experience, integrate the training team, cultivate and drive new talents, and show the outstanding achievements of Shandong's art industry. The exhibition will run until January 9, 2020.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Li Huamin, director of the Tai'an Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, said in his speech that youth are a solid foundation for the development of Chinese oil painting creation. The holding of the "Cross-sectional Landscape - 2019 Shandong Youth Oil Painting Exhibition" has built a new art platform for young oil painting writers in the province, fully demonstrating the active thinking and exploration spirit of young artists in our province, and embodying the high-level creative outlook of young oil painters, hoping that the majority of oil painting enthusiasts in Tai'an City will seize this opportunity, earnestly study, strengthen exchanges, and continue to adhere to the people-centered creative orientation in the future, and strive to create more fine works that show the appearance and spiritual strength of the new era.

Chen Guoli, chairman of the Shandong Oil Painting Society, said in his speech that since the establishment of the Shandong Oil Painting Society in 1997, every year it will launch a thematic provincial oil painting exhibition, the theme of the exhibition strives to stand at the height of social and cultural development, from the reality of the development of Shandong oil painting to highlight the academic, research, and guidance, aiming to trigger academic collision and thinking, in the practice of artistic creation to find answers.

Wang Like, dean of Shandong Academy of Arts, made a concluding speech, in which he pointed out that young artists should grasp two issues: first, grasp the historical, familiar with the Development of the Chinese nation and culture, and maintain sufficient cultural self-confidence when learning Western technology and culture; second, grasp the contemporary, in the face of the arrival of the fourth industrial revolution represented by artificial intelligence, quantum science, virtual reality, etc., how to link the times with art with a keen sense of problems is a new topic.

The exhibition has built a new artistic platform for young oil painters in Shandong Province, and has received enthusiastic submissions and active participation from young oil painters from all over the province. A total of 2225 works by 416 people were collected in the exhibition, and after three rounds of selection by experts, a total of 157 works were selected to enter the re-evaluation, 142 works were finally evaluated into the exhibition, and 81 excellent works were selected. (Among them, 7 members of the Tai'an Oil Painting Society were selected for this exhibition, and 6 people were shortlisted for excellence.) These selected works and excellent works, with rich themes and colorful artistic styles, fully display the active thinking and exploration spirit of young artists in Shandong Province, concentrate on the high-level creative appearance of young oil painters, express and shape the new image and new style of New Shandong in the new era in the form of fine arts, and comprehensively present the latest vitality and best appearance of Shandong oil painting art creation.

The exhibition seminar was held in the afternoon of the same day, and Chen Guoli, chairman of the Shandong Oil Painting Society, Kong Xinmiao, professor and doctoral supervisor of Shandong Normal University and member of the Art Education Committee of the Ministry of Education, Yue Haitao, professor, doctoral supervisor and former dean of the School of Fine Arts of Shandong Normal University, and curators of some municipal art museums, presidents of local oil painting societies and participating artists participated in the seminar. Chairman Chen Guoli introduced the original intention and preparatory process of the provincial youth oil painting exhibition, and also gave affirmation to the participating artists, hoping to let everyone communicate and collide through the platform of the exhibition. Professor Kong Xinmiao, as the academic host of the seminar, explained that the meaning of "cross-sectional landscape" is to hope that young artists will find a position in the horizontal relationship, so as to improve their own creative image, symbol and taste. The creative achievements of the previous generation of artists have been recognized by history, young artists face the new era, how to do the purest in their own choice of artistic path, language is the new challenge, through the collision of exhibitions, exchanges, I hope that everyone through the process of knowing each other to know themselves, their own artistic characteristics to do enough. After that, Dr. Liu Jiashuai exchanged his thoughts on Shandong fine arts with everyone, he took the "Shandong Customs and Customs Oil Painting Exhibition" in 1982 as the starting point to sort out the history of Shandong oil painting, and shared with you what achievements Shandong oil painting has made in the past 37 years, how these achievements have been achieved, in what aspects of Shandong oil painting need to be paid attention to today, or when young and middle-aged painters are doing creation, critics should better cut into the core issues when doing combing. The guests gathered together to express their opinions and discuss the possibilities of the development of oil painting in Shandong.

In recent years, Tai'an Art Museum has continuously launched fine art exhibitions, held 5 public welfare seminars on art creation, and trained more than 300 art creation talents. In the 13th National Fine Arts Exhibition in 2019, 6 authors and 7 works from Tai'an City were selected, and two of their oil paintings were selected for the exhibition. The successful holding of the provincial youth oil painting exhibition has brought to the majority of art lovers in Tai'an City, and the high-level fine works with the atmosphere of the times will surely play a positive role in promoting the development of oil painting in Tai'an City.
