Schubert Serenade is a song written by the Austrian composer Schubert (1797–1828), who is known as the "King of Songs" in the history of European music. Folklore at the time held that when a swan was about to die, it would sing the most moving song.
The Viennese music publisher Haslinger discovered his unpublished works shortly after Schubert's death, and considered the fourteen songs he wrote in the first six months of his death to be a moving masterpiece, so he compiled them into a collection and published them under the name "Swan Song", the fourth of which was the "Schubert Serenade", which was composed in 1828 using The poems of Rebstab.
Serenade is one of the last solo art songs of Schubert's short life and one of Schubert's most famous works. The song is based on the poems of the German poet Lylestab.
