Local villagers told reporters that in the past, the road into the village was only a dirt road more than 3 meters wide. In 2014, the village widened the road, and in 2017, it was upgraded to create a two-lane road that is now more than 6 meters wide.
"In the past, when there was no road, every household in the village raised pigs, and when they were thin, they were reluctant to sell them, and it was difficult to raise fat, because hundreds of kilograms of pigs needed to be carried out of the mountains on a shelf." Long Shuwu, chairman of the Eighteen-Hole Village Economic Union, told the China News Network reporter that he was also the village secretary of the village and knew the development process here very well.
Eighteen-hole village has also been making various attempts in order to get rid of poverty and get rich. Long Shuwu introduced that in 2014, the village cooperative planted tobacco, with an annual income of more than 100,000 yuan, and since then it has carried out many attempts such as kiwifruit, golden tea, the development of mountain spring water, the production of characteristic bacon, and the development of rural tourism.
There are many wild kiwi fruits growing near the eighteen-hole village, which has a natural environment for industrial development. After market research, the village decided to cooperate with enterprises to grow kiwifruit, and at the same time introduced the Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a technical support. Kiwifruit cultivation has played a huge role in increasing the villagers' income.
With the development of various industries, the place has a new look. From a poor village with a per capita arable land area of 0.83 mu and a per capita net income of 1668 yuan in 2013, it has become a rich village with a per capita net income of 18369 yuan and a collective income of 2 million yuan.
Agricultural products and tourism have made the villagers here bulge. All these changes are inseparable from the continuous advancement of the construction of transportation networks.

Asked about the impact of the construction of the expressway on the village, Long Shuwu said: "The impact is too big. With the high-speed is very convenient, from the eighteen-hole village on the highway is only ten minutes, before to Changsha took a full day, now take the highway to Changsha only four hours. ”
It is worth noting that in addition to the above-mentioned industries, there is also a local specialty that is planned to be introduced to the market - bacon smoked by villagers. Villagers in Eighteen-Hole Village told reporters that in the past, there was no refrigerator, smoked bacon was the best way to preserve food, and smoked wooden houses were not easy to be mothed.
A local restaurant owner said that such bacon is generally smoked for 1-2 months, and the price of a kilogram can reach 60 yuan. The village is also building a bacon production plant, which is expected to start selling in May and June. Long Shuwu revealed to reporters that it is expected that the annual output can reach 300,000-400,000 catties. In the future, this income will further enrich the villagers' money bags.
The construction of rural tourism in Eighteen-Hole Village is also in full swing. During the interview, the reporter noticed that groups of tourists flocked to the scene and were very lively. The tour guide told reporters that in 2019, the eighteen-hole village received a peak of 600,000 tourists, and in 2020, due to the impact of the epidemic, the number of people has declined, but the growth momentum in 2021 is good. "Generally January and February are the low season, and April is not over, we have received more than 100,000 passengers this year, and this year should set a new high."
Looking at the endless stream of tourists, Long Shuwu told reporters that he was full of expectations for the future of the Eighteen-Hole Village. (End)
