Jojo's Fantastic Adventures is the key to bringing K.G.S into contact with subcultures!

author:Nuclear network

When I saw the word "Bizarre," I instinctively thought of the New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" and Araki's "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure." The former was my self-pitying track, while the latter introduced me to foreign rock music and the enlightenment of drawing comics.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Volume 24 Cover.

Most of the boys and girls who like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure are attracted by the exoticism, gorgeous costumes and beautiful actions inside. It has been serialized for more than 20 years and has always maintained a high popularity. Despite being defined as a commercial comic, you can always dig into it with a lot of elegant and heterochromatic connotations - what kind of prostitute pasta, the hotel in the turtle's body, the freak who lives on a high-voltage tower to grow vegetables for self-sufficiency, the tongue and teeth to keep the cherry core and the tip intact, the opponent's mouth full of razor blades...

Every time I see the ink-colored fills of Shotaro Kujo and Hiruhiko Araki, I always think of Hugo Pratt's adventure manga Corto Maltese.

Some people even created the body language of the characters in the original game as "JOJO gymnastics".

"JOJO Gymnastics"!

Correspondingly, the geeks with these abilities have been given the names of familiar rock artists or albums such as Pearl Jam, Mr. President, Super Fly, White Snake, metallica, etc. It's hard to imagine what it would be like to be hunted down by another capable person called Notorious B.I.G. on a turbulent flight with someone with abilities called Spice Girls.

The geeks with different stunt-in abilities get together as if they were watching Alejandro Jodorowsky (the crazy director also brought Salvador Dalí and Hans Giger together to shoot Dune). A super-length version of El Topo (Mole).

The competition when chess opponents are not the infinite cycle of hard-hitting in "Dragon Ball" that can be won by blood, friendship and hard work, and the victory of each battle is bought by playing dirty eyes. Observe the diagonal of the desert scene to find the mentally handicapped villain hidden behind the scenes, throw stones to interfere with the blind killer with keen hearing, turn your teeth into jellyfish to drink a cup of urine to win the trust of the underworld cadres ... Just listening to these descriptions, you can feel the pungency and excitement of the full B-class bridge section.

The scene where Sticky Fingers zips through a urinal to find a treasure reminds me of the cover of Circle Jerks' Golden Shower Of Hits.

Rolling Stones' Sticky Fingers album cover was designed by Andy Warhol, and the zippers of the jeans can be pulled open, of course, the CD version is enough. Pictured on the right is Circle Jerks' Golden Shower Of Hits.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure I started watching in 1991, then interrupted when I saw volume 19, and by the time I went on watching it again, it was 1999. From the 20th volume to the time of continuing to chase, there is the most historic moment, it feels like you are 50 years old, met the daughter of the girl you liked when you were 20 years old, she and her mother are as good looking, the way she talks, she said to stay with you until the day the earth explodes.

The prophetic calligraphy and painting style that appeared briefly in the 20, 21, 23, and 24 volumes brought me the above feeling. In these volumes, Araki designed the characters of the Oingo & Boingo brothers, and the deranged combination of the brothers is finally worthy of the fame of Oingo & Boingo, the strange New-Wave band.

Oingo & Boingo Band.

The ability of the older brother Oingo is transfiguration, and the ability of the younger brother Boingo is to have a super abstract prophecy book. Saying that it is a prophecy book, it is actually closer to the concept of a picture book, bold sub-shots, distorted comic border lines, anthropomorphic worldly things, even if it is composed of black and white, you can feel the special fly.

In 2002, Shueisha Bunko consolidated Oingo & Boingo's prophetic calligraphy and painting story into a single book, which is now out of print. The act of an author drawing a work in two styles in a manga and extracting it for separate publication reminds me of Naoki Urasawa's Monster without a Name in Monster.

Chicken thief, I immediately found a shortcut to painting from it, and I took the trouble to copy it, trying to bypass the cliffs and cliffs that need to be conquered by effort, such as the perspective of the light and shade of the space.

Gee!

The tarot cards in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure comics are no less psychedelic than Grateful Dead's album covers.

Interestingly, when I was obsessed with this crazy drunken line, it happened that the soundtrack of "Yellow Submarine" was released in China as a commemorative version. After watching the yellow-blue contrast in the songbook, I began to look for this legendary animation that celebrates love and peace.

At that time, the Beijing pirate market did not have a DVD of "Yellow Submarine", but the VCD had a recorded version, which was wrapped in a kind of literary and artistic kraft paper.

Burn the VCD.

Probably all of my friends who have bought this version have the same experience as me: the A disc was burned incorrectly, and the content inside is actually a landscape documentary by David Sylvian's "Preparations for A Journey". The whole film has nothing to do with psychedelic, it is all the yangchun white snow of New-Wave, and the Polaris camera shoots various parts of a scene, and finally the parts are combined into the overall nihilism. It can also be regarded as a crooked harvest. David Sylvian happened to have an album called Gentlemen Take Polaroids during his time in the band Japan. The cover of the 1999 album Dead Bees On A Cake has a similar psychedelic and abstract tone.

Probably without JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, I wouldn't have received the big-stamped Yellow Submarine, or the Bands Ofampan and David Silvian. A lot of things are arranged in the dark, like the famous quote rolling Stones said in volume 63 of the comic: We are all slaves to fate.
