Chen Yannian was one of the early leaders of the Communist Party of China, born in 1898 in Huaining County, Anhui Province, in June 1922, Zhou Enlai, Nie Rongzhen, Zhao Shiyan and others founded the Communist Organization in Europe, that is, the Young Communist Party of China, and Chen Yannian was one of the members of the Communist Party in Europe.

In May 1925, the workers' leader Gu Zhenghong was killed by the executioners twice and slashed his head with a knife during the work tide in the Shanghai Concession, the death of the worker Gu Zhenghong caused a demonstration by the Shanghai students, the British patrol police of the Shanghai Concession shot at the demonstrators on the spot, killing 13 people on the spot and seriously injuring dozens of people, known in history as the "May Thirtieth Massacre", the May Thirtieth Massacre also broke out indirectly on June 19, 1925, by Chen Yannian, Deng Zhongxia, Su Zhaozheng workers in Guangzhou and Hong Kong to protest imperialism to create the "May Thirtieth Massacre", A general strike led in support of the anti-imperialist struggle of the people of Shanghai.
On April 12, 1927, the Kuomintang New Right led by Chiang Kai-shek launched an armed coup against the Kuomintang Left and the Communist Party in Shanghai, massacring Communists, Kuomintang Leftists and revolutionary masses. On June 26, the Chinese Communist Party abolished the Jiangsu and Zhejiang party committees to establish the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, and Chen Yannian was appointed secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee.
However, on this day, the establishment of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee was announced, with Chen Yannian as secretary, and the inaugural meeting on this day was held secretly in the residence of No. 104 Hengfengli in Shigaota, Sichuan Road, Shanghai, and due to the betrayal of traitors, during the secret meeting, it was attacked by Kuomintang agents.

However, afraid that his identity would be exposed, the organization at that time quickly entrusted someone to rescue him, and through various channels, found Chen Yannian's friend Liu Fangyue during his study in France to go to the rescue, Liu Fangyue and the Shanghai Concession lawyer Wu Kaisheng helped, Wu Kaisheng and Chen Yannian also had a relationship, Chen Yannian was arrested, he was also very happy to agree to Liu Fangyue.

Wu Kaisheng found the police station where Guan Chen Yannian was located, hoping that the police station would release people as soon as possible, and Wu Kai claimed that the police department had caught the wrong person. However, the police department recorded in the records that Chen Yannian picked up a table and chair to fight when the military police were arrested, and injured two military policemen. Seeing that Wu Kaisheng and Liu Fangyue's plan to rescue Chen Yannian was about to succeed, but because of this person's rescue, Chen Yannian's identity was exposed, this person was the famous Hu Shi, and the rescue plan for Chen Yannian at that time was not one-sided, and it was multifaceted in order to save him as soon as possible.
However, it was the appearance of Hu Shi that led to the failure of Chen Yannian's rescue plan, Chen Yannian's father Chen Duxiu's family friend Wang Mengzou, the manager of the Shanghai Yadong Library, found Hu Shi after learning that Chen Yannian was arrested, because the Yadong Library had published the book "Hu Shi Wencun" for Hu Shi, for which Hu Shi always wanted to thank Wang Mengzou.

Wang Mengzou confusedly gave Chen Yannian's real name and real surname to Hu Shi, and Hu Shi wrote to Wu Zhihui, a big red man around Chiang Kai-shek, and the reason why Hu Shi asked Wu Zhihui for help was mainly that Wu Zhihui and Chen Yannian were old acquaintances, and Chen Yannian and his younger brother Chen Qingnian had both received Help from Wu Zhihui when they went to study in France, so Hu Shi thought that the two were acquaintances, and it was impossible for Wu Zhihui to see death and not save them.
But Hu Shi was a little fooled, during his study in France, because Chen Yannian joined the Communist Party in France, Wu Zhihui hated it. Therefore, after Wu Zhihui, who was already a Kuomintang member and a big red man around Chiang Kai-shek, received Hu Shi's distress letter and learned that the person who entrusted him to help him to save was Chen Yannian, he immediately wrote a letter to Yang Hu, the commander of the Shanghai garrison, saying: Today, Wen Zun captured Chen Duxiu's son Yannian ... When Chiang Kai-shek also learned that the arrested man was Chen Duxiu's eldest son and the number one person in charge of the Shanghai Communist Party, Chen Yannian, he immediately ordered a strict interrogation to the Shanghai Police Command.
On the evening of July 4, 1927, the ninth day of Chen Yannian's arrest, Yang Hu, the commander of the Shanghai Garrison, who had not received a single word from Chen Yannian's mouth, became angry and secretly escorted Chen Yannian to the Longhua Execution Ground.
Then it angered the executioners at the scene to hack Chen Yannian to death, when Chen Yannian was only 29 years old when he died, after Chen Yannian's sacrifice, Chiang Kai-shek also ordered that the body should not be collected, when Chen Yannian was sacrificed, his father Chen Duxiu was even more sad after he knew it, and did not say a word all day.

A year later, on February 16, 1928, Chen Duxiu's second son and Chen Yannian's younger brother Chen Qiaonian was arrested in Jiangsu for the betrayal of the traitor Tang Ruilin, and at first, Chen Qiaonian's identity was not yet revealed, and when he was rescued, there was a son of an overseas Chinese businessman named Zhou Zhichu in prison who wanted to replace Chen Qiaonian.
However, Zhou Zhichu's father was eager to save his son, and when he went to the rescue, Chen Qiaonian's identity was also exposed, and on June 6, 1928, Chen Qiaonian and Zheng Fuhe and Xu Baihao, who were arrested together, were shot and killed by the Kuomintang reactionaries by the Fenglin Bridge in Shanghai, and Chen Qiaonian was only 26 years old when he died.
