Recently, the researchers of the Lelongqi Mountain Nature Reserve accidentally photographed a gecko when they carried out night monitoring, which was determined by consulting experts to be the proto-tailed lizard tiger, which is a new distribution record of lizards in the reserve.

The proto-tailed lizard tiger often moves on the inner and outer walls of the house, and its body is small, with a head length of 47-50 mm and a tail length of 47-48 mm; the head is flattened and slightly triangular; the back of the head and trunk is brownish yellow, and the back of the body has intermittent tan longitudinal markings, and the tail also has tan transverse spots; sometimes the body color is lighter, the markings are not obvious, and the ventral surface is yellowish-white.

It is mainly distributed in Sichuan, Taiwan, Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi and Yunnan in China. This species has been included in the National Three Protected Animals List, the China Biodiversity Red List, and the IUCN Endangered Species Red List.
