Therefore, the rumored independence of R cars has officially been confirmed. Nandu reporter learned from Feifan Automobile that at the Guangzhou Auto Show next month, the mass production model of ES33 will be officially released as the first new car after the company's name change.

According to the announcement, the registered capital of Feifan Automobile is 7 billion yuan, of which SAIC Motor Group Co., Ltd. subscribed to contribute 6.65 billion yuan, accounting for 95% of the registered capital, and Shanghai Ruyi Automotive Technology Partnership (Limited Partnership) (employee shareholding platform) subscribed and contributed 350 million yuan, accounting for 5% of the registered capital. In other words, the new company will be registered by means of SAIC Holdings and employee shareholding.

In terms of business scope, Feifan Automobile will cover the sales of new energy vehicles, auto parts research and development, intelligent transmission and distribution and control equipment sales, charging pile sales, data processing and storage support services. SAIC Motor said that the company will R brand through Feifan Automobile as an independent brand, independent company to carry out market-oriented operation, "explore a new model of data-driven and industrial co-creation, will help accelerate the development of high-end intelligent electric vehicle market." ”

In this way, the R brand, which was once differentiated from Roewe, will officially become history. An insider close to R Car told Nandu reporter that before the official independence, R Car is more like a "department" of SAIC Passenger Cars, due to the lack of independent operation and Chinese name, R Car's previous popularity is not high, starting in 2021, R Car has been operating as a "virtual company" internally under an independent brand, until now it is officially independent.

Previously, Nandu Automobile reported that in the first eight months of this year, the sales volume of R cars was less than 8,000 vehicles, which did not bring a large increase in high-end pure electric vehicles to SAIC.

In the C-end consumer market of pure electric vehicles, SAIC Roewe lacks a core model that can lead the brand upwards. In order to break through this bottleneck, in 2018, Roewe launched the Marvel X model, but the facts show that this high-end model priced in the range of 250,000-300,000 yuan, but its sales volume and market presence are quite limited. In May 2020, SAIC Roewe held a famous "Lion Label and R Standard" strategic conference, in short, Roewe Lion Standard focused on fuel vehicles and hybrid models, and the R standard was exclusively for pure electric vehicles.

But R cars originating from Roewe are more like a sub-brand of Roewe than a new thing, and after the launch of ER6 in August 2020, R Cars gradually clarified its relationship with Roewe, which is defined as a high-end pure electric car brand for SAIC passenger cars. After that, R Cars also introduced the Marvel R model.
