Thousand Tang Zhi Zhai
Located in Xin'an County, Luoyang City, Qiantang Zhizhai is one of the concentrated places of existing epitaph stone carvings in China, and is famous for its collection of more than 1,400 epitaph stone carvings since the Western Jin Dynasty and Wei Dynasty. Among them, Tang Zhi is the most abundant, with as many as 1191 pieces.
The name of Qiantang Zhizhai is derived from the "Qiantang Zhizhai" written by Zhang Binglin in the ancient seal, and is suffixed with text: "Xin'an Zhang Boying, a thousand pieces of Tang people's epitaphs, because of the name of The Zhai, belongs to The Book of Zhang Binglin." So who is Zhang Boying mentioned here? What does he have to do with Qiantang Zhizhai?
Zhang Boying, whose real name was Zhang Xiao, was a well-known patriot of the Xinhai Revolution; in 1908, he joined the League led by Sun Yat-sen.
Zhang Xiao
After graduating from the Baoding Army Accelerated School, he was assigned to the Shaanxi New Army Zhang Fengxiang's department, and conspired with Zhang Fengxiang and others in Xi'an to revolt and break away from the Qing army. After that, he was appointed as the governor of the Eastern Road To conquer the capital, and his troops went out of Tongguan to attack the Qing army, winning many battles and winning many battles, and his reputation was greatly enhanced, which could be described as an invincible and victorious general.
However, later, he was deeply dissatisfied because Yuan Shikai stole the fruits of victory, so he refused to fight for Yuan Shikai and was imprisoned by Yuan Shikai. After the fall of Yuan Shikai, Zhang Boying, who coincided with the death of his father, refused the invitation to continue to be an official, but chose to return to his hometown in Xin'an and lived in the house ever since.
Former residence of Zhang Xiao
In the process of living in Xin'an, Under the influence of close friends such as Youren, Zhang Binglin, Kang Youwei, and Wang Guangqing, Zhang Xiao began to like Jinshi calligraphy and painting, and in 1931 began to extensively search for epitaph stone carvings, as well as stele and stone carvings, which were successively transported to his hometown of Tiemen Town, and in the west of his hermitage house, he built a zhai on the ground, and inlaid most of the Zhishi stones from Luo Zhi into the fifteen-hole cave and the three major patios and the inner and outer walls of a corridor.
Most of them come from the ancient capital Luoyang, spanning from Wude onwards, from the Tang Dynasty to the Middle Tang Dynasty to the late Tang Dynasty, including Wu Zetian's Jieyuan and An Lushan's usurpation, which is very complete.
The identity of the Zhi Lord is also all-encompassing, including a Xiangguo Taiwei who is an extremely popular subject, an emperor who has divided the territory, a feudal town official who dominates the side, a thorn Shi Taishou who guards the territory, a Wei Mo Shancao who is a lowly official; there are also virgin celebrities who travel leisurely in the garden, the temple and cave lord who is enlightened and zen, and the gong'e cai woman who is locked in the inner palace, desolate for a lifetime, and who dies without knowing her name and place of origin.
And all of this constitutes the prototype of The Thousand Tang Zhizhai .
However, with the continuous social turmoil and the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Qiantang Zhizhai also suffered certain damage, losing many inscriptions, which made people feel sad.
Now Qiantang Zhizhai has not only been a national key cultural relics protection unit and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, but also greatly valued and protected by the state, and has also grown into a bright star of Xin'an County tourism. I believe that Zhang Boying, who is the old man of youshi, will also feel extremely relieved in his spirit in heaven.
