The behavioral habits and functional localization of houseflies and goldenflies are close to those of black water flies. However, we recommend replacing houseflies or other flies with black water flies to achieve the goals of food waste and livestock manure disposal and the production of high-quality insect protein.
1. The black water fly is larger. The mature larvae of the black water fly are about ten times heavier than the maggots, and the individuals are very impressive, which facilitates the separation of insect material and further processing.

The black water fly larvae have a long history and have a significant pre-pupal period, which can achieve a long period of live storage, according to environmental conditions, the duration can reach one week to several months. The general fly larvae lack obvious pre-pupal stage, develop faster, and are difficult to store in vivo.
3, black water fly adults do not eat, only need to replenish water, life cycle is only a few days, you can complete mating and spawning, each female lays nearly 1000 eggs. The adult flies continue to feed, the life expectancy can reach more than one month, and the need to constantly replenish food when breeding. That is, it increases the cost of breeding, and also increases the labor intensity.
4, black water fly adult insects do not disturb the people, do not easily enter the human room, kitchen. Flies, on the other hand, are typical public nuisances. Flies are not only annoying, they can even spread disease.
5, black water fly can choose a wide range of food types, from livestock manure, animal and plant residues, kitchen waste, to food industry waste, can be easily disposed of. Houseflies have similar feeding habits to black waterflies, but golden flies prefer to eat animal carcasses and require high-protein feed to be farmed.
6, black water fly culture also has some deficiencies, such as adult insect culture requires large space, higher temperature, strong light. These factors are also important factors that have long restricted the application of black water fly, and the difficulties of these links can be solved through technology.
