At work, there are often a large number of pictures, videos, and files to store and share. In the past, the simplest solution was to use a U disk copy, which was not only slow in efficiency, but also easy to lose when the U disk was passed. In addition, the U disk read and write speed is slow, such as the transfer of tens ofGB of video files, only copy may take hours.
Like the author's work will produce a large number of product pictures, videos, etc., these materials need to be stored and shared, if each time through the U disk sharing is too cumbersome, so consider building a LAN sharing network disk within the company.

LAN shared network disk is different from NAS, NAS is interpreted as network auxiliary storage, in fact, similar to the concept of LAN shared network disk, but there is a more obvious difference between the two, that is, the former is a local area network, the latter is the Internet.
Without further ado, let's just start building. There are many ways to build a LAN public network disk, the author chooses an idle PC + external disk array to implement (PC acts as a server), which is not only compatibility, does not require hardware transformation, but also can be moved.
In terms of hard disks, the author recommends the use of Western Digital red disk, red disk is designed for NAS, can meet 24×7 all-weather operation, life and reliability are guaranteed, in this regard, we must not save money, otherwise it is not worth the loss.
Starting with the new disk, let's try the performance of the Western Digital red disk, using the CrystalDiskMark 8 for testing, the sequential read and write speed is more than 220MB/s, which is completely enough.
The disk array uses the author's idle Orrick dual disk array, and the storage mode or RAID 1 array mode can be selected. According to the requirements, the author chooses the storage mode, that is, uses 2 6TB Western Digital red disks to build 12TB of storage space. The interface is USB3.0 specification, which theoretically supports 5Gbps transfer rates.
In addition, there is an idle laptop that acts as a server and has a USB3.0 interface (guaranteed transfer speed).
In terms of software, the Qingyang Network File System, or kiftd, is used. Chfs was previously considered, but the latter had security issues. Below, the official start of the construction:
The first step is to install JAVA
Download and install through the JAVA official website, fool-like, no need to introduce (if this step will not be, this article can be abandoned);
The second step is to install and configure kiftd
Kiftd (Qingyang Network File System) is a free and open source network disk server project, which can be found by searching for resources.
This is a compressed file, after extracting, install kiftd.jar file.
After successful installation, enable the skipd service.
The third step is to set up your account and upload and share it
Using common browsers (Sogou, Edge, etc.), enter http://127.0.0.1:8080/ in the address bar to access the resource management interface, the default administrator account is "admin", and the password is "000000".
Upload the video to the shared network drive
After logging in, you can manage resources, such as uploading, deleting, and creating folders. Uploaded files, support video online playback, picture viewing, etc.
If someone else uses the LAN, you need to modify the address to use the network IP address of the server PC, which is the http://192.168.0.2:8080/, which can be found by looking at the network device properties.
Watch the video online, not stuck at all
Use another computer for actual testing, enter the http://192.168.0.2:8080/ in the address bar, open smoothly, you can view the contents of the public network disk, and the download speed is about 100MB/s.
The above is the steps to build a landown public network disk, which can be said to be very simple.
In addition, there are a few points to be noted:
1) For the PC used as a server, the network card rate will limit the sharing speed, please give priority to the gigabit network card;
2) In case of company network speed limiting, you can add a router to create a new network, which can also be achieved;
3) Select a hard disk with high reliability, such as the Western Digital red disk used in this article, to ensure stable and safe operation;
4) Is it possible to access the Internet? Yes, but you need to have a public IP address, or use an intranet penetration tool to do so.
