Charles (Hugh Grant) is a regular at weddings, but he has inexplicable doubts about marriage. At a village wedding, he fell in love with the American girl Carey (Andy McDowell) at first sight, and spent a beautiful night with her despite his friends chewing on many of her rights and wrongs, and the next day, Kelly returned to the United States without a word, and Charles was distracted.
