The only female volunteer who escaped from danger in Zha Di Dong: more than 300 volunteers were killed after the "11.27" massacre

Sheng Guoyu passed away on July 27, 2014. Before he was born, his body was very tough, and his life was also very pleasant. She escaped from the guns and flamethrowers of the "Slag Cave" and was the only surviving woman among the revolutionary volunteers imprisoned in the "Sino-US Cooperation Institute" in Chongqing.

Whenever people asked about her experience in the "Sino-US Cooperation Institute" before her death, she would tell in detail about the miserable years.

Instigated and supported by US imperialism, Chiang Kai-shek assigned his cronies to build a large concentration camp in the northwest of Chongqing, the mountain city of Sichuan, known as the "Sino-US Cooperation Institute." This is the Dark Devil's Cave, hell on earth. There are more than ten prisons, large and small, each of which is a high wall, a dense power grid, five steps and one post, ten steps and one sentry, and the barriers are strict and very terrifying.

The "White Mansion" and the "Slag Cave" are two of the largest prisons, known as "living coffins". These two "living coffins" have imprisoned hundreds of Communists and revolutionaries. Almost none of the people who were caught could get out. The commander of the Seventeenth Route Army, the patriotic general General Yang Hucheng, was also imprisoned here for launching the "Xi'an Incident" to force Chiang Kai-shek to resist Japan.

The people locked up in these "two living coffins" are subjected to the most brutal punishment and abuse in the world. The book "Red Rock" is a very true reflection of the inhumanity of the demons and executioners in the "White Mansion" and "Slag Cave". Those who were caught in these two "living coffins", whether male or female, noble or lowly, who had not been beaten and tortured, tiger stools, red soldering irons, pepper water, and bamboo skewers tortured people to death. 365 days a year, there are very few times when there is no immovable punishment, and there is no heart-rending groan on any night.

After the People's Liberation Army liberated most of China, Chiang Kai-shek was unable to stand, and he wanted to shrink to the south of the Yangtze River. Before leaving, he gritted his teeth and issued an order, using his hand blade, shooting, burying alive, burning and other means in batches and stages, to execute the people in the white mansion and the slag cave, and to act quickly, resolutely, and thoroughly, leaving no one behind.

Sheng Guoyu said that she was arrested by the enemy at the Guiyang Primary School in The county seat of Matjiang on a dark night in October 1948 and escorted to Zha di Dong. More than 300 victims were held there. Among them were more than 30 female victims, crammed into two connected cells. Most of the people in the prison were Communists, Komsomol, or revolutionary activists. Party organizations were secretly set up in the prison to closely unite the victims and wage heroic and tenacious struggles against the prison officials, guards, and agents.

They demand minimum living security and treatment by running prison newspapers, holding memorial services, hunger strikes, and shouting slogans. They organize poems, singing, twisting songs, and holding parties to enliven life, boost morale, lift spirits, and strengthen the courage and confidence of struggle. At first, there were many rules and precepts in the prison, and they were abused in every way in life, and they did not treat their friends as people. Humiliation and embarrassment happen often. After the secret party organization led the victims in an indomitable struggle, the prison had to give in.

November 27, 1949, was an unforgettable day. The prison guards came to the doors of the cells and shouted, "All get ready, transfer." Soon all the cell doors opened and more than 300 victims were concentrated in eight small cells. The room was small, and thirty or forty people were curled up on the ground. It was late at night, the weather was cold, the ground was cold, and no one could guess what the purpose of bringing people together was, only that something ominous was about to happen. So everyone couldn't sleep, some exchanged feelings with each other, some silently pondered, and some simply sat up and looked out the window. Outside, figures flashed, and footsteps and calls mixed together shook everyone's heart. After staying up the night, it was a little quieter.

At about 2 o'clock, there was a sudden whistle, followed by a rushing run. Then death was as silent as ever. After a while, a man yelled in his throat, "Prepare, release!" Bullets from machine guns and submachine guns rained in from doors and windows into the cell. At that time, none of the victims were afraid of death, because those who came in did not want to live, and everyone did not cry or scream, and all of them shouted in unison: "Long live the Communist Party of China!" "Long live New China!" A momentary shout broke through the dark night sky and covered the sound of gunfire.

This tragic cry is the farewell of the victims to the people and the motherland, and this voice is full of the infinite love of the martyrs for the Communist Party and New China, and the bitter hatred for the Kuomintang. Blood, black like water, flowed from the victims to the floor of the cell, and from the cell to the outside. Gradually there was no sound in the dungeon. The victims lay on their backs and lay upright, and the postures at the time of righteousness were various. Some seemed to be charging, some clenched their fists as if they were fighting the enemy, and some had wide eyes, as if they were glaring at the Kuomintang.

After two or three quarters of an hour, the agents opened the cell door, touched the corpses one by one, and found that there was no breath, so they made up another shot. Because the mother covered with her body and did not get shot, the prison flower was frightened and crying, and a dog agent screamed "to cut the grass and remove the roots", lifted the child upside down, and fell fiercely to the ground, and then raised the gun and poured two shuttle bullets. The secret service guards went out of the various cells and set fire to them. After venting enough of the inhumane obscenity, they all withdrew. Leaving behind a trail of ember smoke and the remains of more than 300 martyrs.

Sheng Guoyu said that she was very lucky in this disaster. At first, he was not shot because he was lying down. When the agent and the guard came in to check, she held her breath and did not move. One agent touched her nose and mouth, and fired another shot at her waist, and she stood up hard and did not dare to move. The agents and guards thought she was dead, so they went to the others to check on her, checked them one by one, and went out. She was very clear-headed, touched the place where there was no pain in her body, her arms and legs could move, and she listened to it without moving, and then opened her eyes. I saw the whole prison full of fire, reflecting the sky red. She looked at the fire outside like a fool, as if she had forgotten her own existence.

When the fire was about to burn off the doorpost of the cell, the survival instinct supported her to cross the corpses and step on the pool of blood to the door, the fireworks choked her open her eyes, she could not breathe, the noise itched, she restrained herself. Keeping her mouth tightly shut, not coughing, not making a sound, she was afraid of being heard by the enemy. She crossed two piles of fires and ran into the yard, where her two shoes were lost, and several places on her clothes were on fire, and the smoke was so hot that she was dizzy and weak, and fearing that the enemy would find her, she staggered into the toilet and fainted.

After dawn, nearby residents gathered around, and the wives of two workers in the arsenal rescued Sheng Guoyu. The next day Chongqing was liberated, and her relatives, the People's Liberation Army, took her to the hospital.

Whenever Old Man Sheng Guoyu said this, he made a sigh and continued: "The victims in the prison died so tragically, only I escaped, I want to tell more people about that experience, so that people will always remember those who died for New China." ”
