One day in July 2011, when he led the operation team to inspect the 352.100 kilometers between the Gyeongwon Line and the Zaolin Forest, he heard that the operator had an abnormal alarm when he was carrying out the machine, and after repeated inspection on the spot, it was confirmed that the rail was seriously injured, and he quickly notified the workshop to deal with it in time. In his work, he is also good at studying various "difficult and complicated diseases" in flaw detection and overcoming one difficulty after another in safe production. Small radius curve lot is a difficult point in the detection operation, due to the wear and tear of the rail caused by the poor coupling of the probe and the rail surface, which seriously affects the detection effect, it is easy to cause missed inspection or misjudgment, and lays a major safety hazard for transportation safety. In order to solve this problem, he began to tackle technical problems.

After repeated on-site research and experiments, the "probe and rail head coupling system" was invented, that is, the use of oil as a couplant, through the method of grasping the probe by hand to check, effectively solved the drawbacks of affecting the flaw detection due to the poor coupling of the probe and the rail surface, and plugged the loopholes in the flaw detection operation.

In view of the problem that the early small nuclear injury in the center of the rail head is not easy to find, he actively carried out technical research, and adopted the detection method of reducing the declination angle of the probe and the position of the probe appropriately deviating from the center of the rail head, which effectively improved the detection probability of near-surface nuclear injury in the center of the rail head.

In his 17-year career as a wound tester, he has traveled more than 800 kilometers of lines, all turnouts and station lines, and he knows every inch of rail conditions in the tube, which key sections need to be encrypted, and which diseases need to be "scrutinized and carefully examined". Every suspicious place found must be carefully analyzed to achieve "three do not let go": the cause analysis is not clear, the qualitative is not accurate, and the disposal task is not released.

Not tall, strong, dark, rough, wind-like steps... Everything is a testimony to his long-term field work, weathering the baptism of wind and rain into steel, and it is also a true portrayal of his sweat for safe production.

At the scene, people can always see his wind and fire figure. One day in August 2013, the temperature was as high as more than 30 degrees, the temperature of the rail reached more than 50 degrees, and every touch of the rail was hot. Only to see him check the staff from time to time to pay attention not to speed, even speed and careful exploration, and from time to time crouch down and stand up, climb on the rail to observe the status of the rail, and listen carefully to the sound emitted by the flaw detector. When inspecting the aluminum weld at 357.200 kilometers of the Gyeongwon line, the abnormal situation was found and the operator was reminded to pay attention in time. After careful inspection, it was found that the rail had a large core injury, and measures were taken in time.

One person's technology is not good, all employees are really good, and the safety factor will be higher. All newly hired employees, he is extremely strict and personally serves as a teacher, teaching business and practicing skills by hand. This year, Duan established a "flaw detector training base" in the workshop, and as soon as he had time, he led the staff to practice, so that the new people's business and technical level was quickly improved.

In order to improve the flaw detection management, he used his spare time to communicate and discuss with peers through the network, and established a variety of basic management such as B obvious injury database, playback suspected damage registration book, playback base material key location registration book, playback reinforcement weld registration book, etc., which improved the self-management ability of the team and effectively realized the monitoring of on-site rails.

He is not only satisfied with the mastery of old technology, but also attaches great importance to the development and research of new technologies. In 2018, the flaw detection workshop should use a double-track trolley, and he will find information, ask for the help of his peers, and understand and master the double-track instrument in advance. Due to the design reasons, the circuit wiring is unreasonable, and the line is often hung up when passing through the turnout, which not only affects the progress and quality of the operation, but also causes greater economic losses. He conducted research and testing on this problem in time, and installed an anti-hanging wire hook for the dual-track instrument to eliminate such problems. The "Five Smalls" and technological innovations led and participated in by him have also won many awards.

Everything must strive for the first, which is the professional pursuit that Zhang Zhiqiang has cultivated for many years.
