Data released by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the 16th showed that the law enforcement agency arrested 188829 illegal immigrants entering from the border between the United States and Mexico in June, the highest monthly record in nearly 21 years. Of these, there are 15,253 underage illegal immigrants who do not have parents or guardians to supervise them. The United States has immediately repatriated more than 178,000 of them. Most of the illegal immigrants arrested in June came from Mexico and three Central American countries, with Mexico having the largest number.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 last year, illegal immigration from the U.S.-Mexico border into the United States has increased dramatically. The current U.S. administration has tried to strengthen cooperation with the governments of the countries of origin of migrants with a view to curbing the flow of illegal immigrants, but with little success.
