According to the "Chronicle of Hequ County" in the tenth year of Qing Daoguang, the town of Xiongyong was placed in the fifth dynasty of the Northern Han Dynasty, and the volcano army was established in the seventh year of the Taiping Revival of the Northern Song Dynasty (982 AD), which was once the first line of defense against the invasion of the desert north by successive dynasties, and also the first barrier against the entry of nomadic peoples such as the Tile Thorn and the Tatars into the Central Plains.
From the late Yuan Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty, for more than a hundred years, the old county has always retained a six-mile radius. Since the Yuan Dynasty, only Tuweizi has been restored in the early Ming Dynasty, and the Jingtai and Jiajing dynasties have been repaired to varying degrees. During the Ming Dynasty, Miao Chaoyang, a native of Hequ Old County, who was an official in Henan, met Hou Yuzhao, the inspector of Shanxi, Henan, to discuss the matter of rebuilding the old county town, and to the imperial court to force the key points of the old county, and Hou Yuzhao transferred more than 10,000 soldiers from Pinglu Second Prefecture to repair the old county town after a year.
The Qing Daoguang version of the "Chronicle of Hequ County" describes the magnificent scene of the old county town at that time: at that time, the city was large in scale and magnificent, known as Phoenix City, with a high slope in the north, and on three sides it was facing a deep ditch, facing the yang back mountain, majestic and large, and the streets were well-ordered, the zoning was demarcated, the houses were scattered, the temples were solemn, and the city scene was peaceful and auspicious.
The ancient village of Jiuxian was developed in the Song Dynasty (the seventh year of the Song Taiping Revival (982 AD)) during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a history of 1027 years. It has long been the seat of Hequ County, and it has always been a place of contention for soldiers, and the song and weeping story of the Yang family defending the volcano army against foreign invasions has been staged here.
To this day, the volcanic village, two miles away from the old county village, still has the relics of the old volcano kings Yang Gun, Yang Xin, Yang Jiye and other used refining furnaces, martial arts fields and other relics to protect the old county village's Wang Yizhuang. Here is also staged the tragic and tragic story of the officials and people at the end of the Ming Dynasty jointly resisting the thief King Jiayin and Wu Ting. Once here, Huma hissed, smoke filled the air, and many heroic deeds were exhausted in the smoke and rain, causing countless children of Hequ to surging with blood and striving forward.
Jiuxian Ancient Village is a historical ancient village that attaches equal importance to cultivation and reading, promotes Confucianism, pays attention to indoctrination, and coexists with agriculture and commerce. The history of the old county villages has been full of talents: Bai Pu, the fourth master of the Yuan qu, Miao Chaoyang, the Ming Dynasty soldier, and the Huang Zhaizhong, the prefect of Dading Province in the Qing Dynasty, are all well-known in Chinese history, and there are also Bai Ben, Bai Hua, Bai Youguang, Huang Tinggan and so on.
Bai Pu: Originally named Heng, later renamed Park, the character Taisu, the number Langu, the ancestral home of Hequ County, the old county village, together with Guan Hanqing, Ma Zhiyuan, Zheng Guangzu and called "Yuan Qu Four Bigs". During his lifetime, he wrote a lot of works, including 16 kinds of miscellaneous dramas and more than 400 songs. His "Wall Head Horse" is known as one of the four classical love dramas.

Due to its disrepair, it has been destroyed and demolished over the years, and the only one that has been well preserved to this day is The Kaishio-an (also known as the Kaishio Zen Temple).
The nunnery is located at the bottom of the hillside 500 meters southeast of the ancient city, built on the mountain, surrounded by mountains and rivers, deep and strange, and is a provincial key cultural relics protection unit. Today, Haichao'an has become a major Center of Buddhist cultural activities in and around Northwest Jin, and a major tourist attraction in Hequ County.
Haichao Zen Temple is a precious cultural heritage, its sculptures, calligraphy and paintings, inscriptions, plaques, monks' study works, predecessors inscriptions, is a rare art treasure; it promotes friendly exchanges between the Menghu Han ethnic groups, effectively prospers the surrounding economy and culture, and stabilizes the social order in the north; it integrates ancient philosophy, literature, aesthetics, architecture, military science, and ecology in one furnace, and is a fine masterpiece of the Loess Plateau region of Chinese civilization.
The laneways in the ancient villages of the old county are crisscrossed, the rivers in front of the village are as bright as mirrors, and the mountains outside the village are surrounded by continuous. The patches of ancient houses look unique against the backdrop of green mountains and waters. Most of the houses in the village are green brick and gray tiles, cornices and arches, wooden structures, carved dragons and phoenixes, magnificent, longitudinal and horizontal laneways, as deep as a labyrinth.
The history, culture and architecture of the old county and village contain the diligence and wisdom of the Chinese nation, and abbreviate the history of the civilization of cultivating and reading heirlooms. It shows that hard work can get rich, hard work can govern the government, and self-cultivation is good at being a person. The courtyard of the ancient city is mostly a courtyard, some courtyards are still inhabited, the wooden door is lightly hidden, the yard is clean and tidy, one or two apricot trees and pear trees, half a garden of melons and cauliflowers, inadvertently revealing the owner's quiet and elegant life.
Looking back at the ancient village of the old county, an important town of border plugs, after more than 1,000 years of ups and downs, the sound of horseshoes has gradually disappeared, condensing the ancient farming culture, Confucian culture, commercial culture, religious culture, architectural culture, border plug culture, military culture, and today, it still stands majestically in the northern land of Jinbei, bathed in the brilliant sunshine of the new century.
Standing on the high hill of the ancient village of Jiuxian County, in the north wind of hunting, I picked up a broken piece of porcelain at my feet, which conveyed the message of a thousand years and was forever treasured in our memory.
