The ancient city of Susa is a place with a lot of stories, before that, it has always been one of the important cities of Elam, is a very old city, Elan once developed into the most powerful country in West Asia, but even the strongest civilization will eventually weaken, which seems to be an immutable law of history.

From 800 BC to 600 BC, Elam entered the New Elam period, the early literature and archaeological discoveries of the New Elam are very limited, when Elam may have allied with Babylon and other countries to jointly fight against the Neo-Assyrian Empire, but ended in failure, as early as the 10th century BC into the Iron Age assyria, this period can be described as the sun in the sky, this period of Elam under the impact of Assyrian and other countries, has been torn apart, it is difficult to maintain the unity of the country.
By the end of the New Elam, the weakening kingdom of Elam was gradually threatened by the emerging Persians in the east, and the Persians established the Persian kingdom around 700 BC, centered on anand, although still subject to Elam's constraints, but had considerable independence.
Then, around 678 BC, with the invasion of Assyria, which also prompted the birth of a new power, the Medes tribes began to unite and then established the Median Kingdom, which was the Aryans belonging to the Indo-European language family and the first people to settle in the Iranian plateau.
In 646 BC, Susa was sacked by Assyria in the war, and in the same year Elam also lost control of the area of the Bhaffars, which became the core ruling area of Persia, Elam was no longer an influential power, and after this period, the historical record of Elam began to become less and less, and Elam gradually withdrew from the historical stage for more than two thousand years.
Then, the Medes formally united with the re-emerging Neo-Babylon through political marriage, and in 612 BC it captured the capital of the Assyrian Empire, Nineveh, and the once-mighty Assyrian Empire entered the countdown to its demise, and finally in 605 BC, with the fall of the Assyrian stronghold of Kalkimish in the west, the Assyrian Empire collapsed, and the Median Kingdom became the leading power in West Asia at that time, and Persia was also subject to the Median Kingdom.
In 585 BC, the last Medes king, Astiages, succeeded to the throne, and in order to consolidate his rule, he married his daughter to Cambyses I, an early member of the Achaemenid family of persian nobles in the Median vassal region, who later gave birth to the great Cyrus the Great, Cyrus II, in 576 BC.
According to the "History", the Medes king Astiages once ordered the minister Halpagos to execute his newborn grandson because of the ominous signs of his dream, and the minister, instead of doing so, entrusted him to a shepherd, but Halpagos's move caused him misfortune, and after Astiages learned that Halpagos did not execute Cyrus II, he killed the minister's 13-year-old only son and cooked it into a dish for Halpagos to eat in front of his face, and the cruelty of the means was chilling.
The bitter hatred made Halpagos think calmly about how to avenge the murder of his son, so he told Cyrus II all the facts, which may be the biggest reason why Cyrus II later revealed it.
