This Kuomintang agent was Yan Jinwen. Why would Yan Jinwen, as a well-known core agent of the military command, help our party to rescue Zhang Lan? To figure out this age-old problem, you have to go back to the red years.
In fact, all this began with the acquaintance of Premier Zhou Enlai and Yang Hu, the elder of the Kuomintang.
In May 1949, Zhang Lan, who was recuperating in Shanghai, was arrested by Kuomintang agents, and Chiang Kai-shek was very excited when he learned that Zhang Lan had been arrested. This is because Zhang Lan is a famous patriot and a figure that our party respects very much. After learning of zhang lan's arrest, Chiang Kai-shek thought twice and finally decided to execute zhang lan. After all, at this point in time, our Party had already occupied a great dominant position in the war with the Kuomintang, and Chiang Kai-shek, fearing that the night would be long and dreamy, issued a death order to Mao Renfeng, asking him to kill Zhang Lan in Shanghai and not to escort him back to Nanjing.
After this news was known to our Party, Premier Zhou Enlai eagerly issued an order to the Party branch in Shanghai, demanding that Zhang Lan must be rescued at all costs. In order to rescue Zhang Lan, Premier Zhou even used a dark line he had planted within the Kuomintang three years ago, namely Yang Hu.
Yang Hu was a veteran of the Kuomintang and a staunch patriot. When Lao Jiang still insisted that "the outside must first be safe inside" under the precarious situation of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Yang Hu immediately raised opposition. Yang Hu has always felt that there is nothing wrong with fighting between the Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang for the right to rule China, but in the face of foreign invasion, people from both parties must stop the internal war, unite with the outside world, and turn the spearhead to the enemy, not their own people.
Although Yang Hu did not approve of Lao Jiang's foreign strategy, he also knew that people were soft-spoken, so he did not speak out against it. Later, Yang Hu happened to get acquainted with Premier Zhou, and after hearing Premier Zhou expound our party's ideas on the enemy, Yang Hu felt that his thinking had sought resonance and understanding, and he immediately changed his mind about the Communist Party of China. Therefore, Yang Hu put his heart on Premier Zhou, expressed his views on Chiang Kai-shek's policy, and expressed to Premier Zhou his guilt for not being able to prevent chiang kai-shek from waging a civil war.

Therefore, when three years later, after the instructions of Premier Zhou were conveyed, Yang Hu did not hesitate to say that he would do his best to help the Communist Party. In addition to his gratitude to the Communist Party and Premier Zhou, another reason why Yang Hu agreed to rescue Zhang Lan was because Zhang Lan himself was a famous educator who was admired by the people at that time, and Yang Hu also admired Zhang Lan's personality and talent. When Wu Kejian, the head of the Shanghai Communist Party, asked Yang Hu what the rescue plan was, Yang Hu recommended Yan Jinwen to him, and said that Yan Jinwen and his son-in-law Zhou Lixing were his most trusted people, and it would certainly be possible to complete such an important task to Yan Jinwen. At that time, Yan Jinwen's family conditions were not good, he had to do a lot of things every day, and often he didn't have enough to eat, so he was hungry and full of food and lived on the beach, relying on hard work to survive. Originally, Yan Jinwen's life was like this, there was no hope, and there was no hope.
Until one day, Yan Jinwen accidentally met Yang Hu while doing coolies on the beach. As a person who has been wandering on the beach for a long time and is accustomed to seeing various characters of the three religions and nine streams, he can see at a glance that Yang Hu is not an ordinary person. Since then, Yan Jinwen's life has completely changed, in Shanghai Beach, he Yan Jinwen is no longer a useless poor boy, can only rely on selling coolies to live, he is now a big man with one hand covering the sky and black and white. For a while, Qingyun reached the top, which really made Yan Jinwen feel proud of the spring breeze. Yan Jinwen was ordered by the military to unify, and at the time when the relations between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party had broken down, he naturally wanted to seize the Communist Party of China. In 1948, Wang Xiaohe, a member of our party, was arrested and persecuted by secret agents of the military command at the age of twenty-four, and the person who arrested this young party member was Yan Jinwen.
In addition, in April 1949, agents of the Republic of China Party targeted students demonstrating at Fudan University, which persecuted many people, and the person who planned the operation was also Yan Jinwen. At that time, Yan Jinwen seemed to be only carrying out the orders issued by the military command, but later Yan Jinwen remembered and was full of regret. Although Yan Jinwen obeyed the orders of the secret agents of the military command, he clearly knew that to be able to have today, he did not rely on others, but Yang Hu, and without Yang Hu, he Yan Jinwen was nothing. At that time, almost all the Kuomintang agents knew about the mission that the old Chiang had given to Mao Renfeng, and they also knew that Chiang Kai-shek wanted to kill Zhang Lan, so for the Communists and Yan Jinwen, the plan to rescue Zhang Lan needed to be carried out immediately. Just as Yan Jinwen and others were discussing how to rescue them, the War between the Kuomintang and the Communists was nearing the end, and Chiang Kai-shek knew that he could not win, so he held the idea of sinking together and ordered that Zhang Lan be directly sunk into the river at 10 p.m. on May 24!
This earth-shattering thunder undoubtedly broke all the plans of Yan Jinwen and our party. But Yan Jinwen had already decided to sacrifice his life to complete the task given to him by Yang Hu this time. After accepting the order, Yan Jinwen quickly made his own plan. After making a plan in his mind, Yan Jinwen decided to give it a fight. At the meeting, he righteously told his subordinates that the order issued by the military command was to sink the river at ten o'clock in the evening, and that it would not be sooner or later, that the tasks set by the superiors should be strictly carried out, and that there should be no slackness in the slightest. Subsequently, Yan Jinwen quickly rushed to the hospital where Zhang Lan was being held, because Yan Jinwen was a Kuomintang agent, and his subordinates knew him and quickly let him in. With his identity, Yan Jinwen successfully entered the hospital and found Zhang Lan, who, for safety reasons, revealed his identity to Zhang Lan and told him that he had cooperated with the Communists on the rescue mission.
For Zhang Lan, at this time, it was already a great disaster, and since he was about to die, it didn't matter who came to save him or not. Therefore, in the face of Yan Jinwen's explanation, Zhang Lan quickly expressed his acceptance. If Yan Jinwen really saved Zhang Lan out, it would definitely be a good thing for Zhang Lan, and if he was a liar, then no matter how bad it was, it would just be a change of place to die. Soon, Yan Jinwen risked great danger to rescue Zhang Lan. After Zhang Lan was rescued, Chiang Kai-shek was furious and soon found out that Zhang Lan's rescue was Yang Hu's idea, so he was greatly angry with Yang Hu and issued an order to assassinate Yang Hu. When he learned that Yang Hu was facing an assassination crisis because of our party, Premier Zhou quickly arranged for underground party members to receive Yang Hu back to Beijing and send someone to protect him. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Lan was appointed vice chairman of the Chinese People's Government, but Zhang Lan was obsessed with Yan Jinwen's life-saving grace and often invited Yan Jinwen to Beijing.
