Lü Meng replied: "There are often many affairs in the military, and there is no time to study anymore."
Sun Quan said: "Don't let me be blind, I am not letting you go to Qinghua Peking University, I mean let you read more books, read more historical stories of small volumes, see how serious people are, you can't learn more about long experience, you say that you are busy with affairs, are you busier than me, I have read "Poems", "Books", "Etiquette", "Zuo Zhuan", "Chinese" when I was a child, from Jiangdong as the boss, I read several history books, books of various families and soldiers, I feel very beneficial. The two young people have such a high level of understanding and people are so smart, if they study well, they will definitely have to be one level higher than now. Why not learn it? It is imperative to first read books such as "Sun Tzu", "Liutao", "Zuo Biao", "Chinese" and so on. Confucius said: 'It is useless to think all day without eating or sleeping all night, so it is better to learn it."' The Guangwu Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty still could not release the scroll while he was on horseback. Cao Cao said that he was old and studious. Can't you just try to help yourself?"

Lü Meng listened to Sun Quan's words and began to study hard. He is tireless in his studies, earnest and hardworking, and as time goes on, his understanding of the contents of the book becomes deeper and deeper, and his experience often exceeds that of ordinary readers. Lu listened respectfully, secretly. After Sun Quan knew about Lü Meng's changes, he exclaimed: "When people reach a great age, they will seek progress again, and those who make efforts like Lü Meng and Jiang Qin are afraid that ordinary people cannot reach them."
Later, after Lü Meng's death, when Sun Quan and Lu Xun talked about Zhou Yu, Lu Su, and Lü Meng, they were called guoshi and wizards, which was quite admired. It should be said that Lu Meng is indeed well-deserved.
