author:Let's explore history

Jiang Qin (?) –220), courtesy name Gongyi, was a native of Jiujiang Shouchun (present-day Shou County, Anhui), and a famous general of Eastern Wu in the late Han Dynasty.

Jiang Qin had already followed Sun Ce when Sun Ce led his people to defect to Yuan Shu, and after Sun Ce arrived in Jiangdong, he became a sima of another department, and led troops to fight with Sun Ce to pacify the three counties, and then followed Sun Ce to pacify Yuzhang. He was transferred to Geyang County, successively served as the county magistrate of three counties, fought against the pacifying bandits, and was promoted to the western capital lieutenant. The thieves Kou Lühe and Qin Wolf of Huiji County rebelled, and Jiang Qin led the army to fight, so Lü He and Qin Wolf were captured, and the five counties were pacified, and he was transferred to the position of general of Yue Zhonglang, with the counties of Jingjian and Zhaoyang as fiefs. When He Qi attacked the thieves in Yixian County, Jiang Qin led ten thousand troops and attacked with He Qi, and the Yixian thieves were pacified.

At first, Jiang Qin was stationed at Xuancheng and fought against Yuzhang's thieves. Wuhu County ordered Xu Sheng to capture one of Jiang Qin's guards and request that he be executed, sun Quan considered that Jiang Qin was leading troops in a distant place but did not answer, and Xu Sheng believed that he and Jiang Qin had a personal vendetta. Cao Cao attacked Shu, Jiang Qin and Lü Meng took command of the army, and adjusted the system of economy and so on. Xu Sheng was often afraid that Jiang Qin would harm himself because of past events, and Jiang Qin often praised his merits. Xu Sheng was convinced of his virtues and discussed Jiang Qin's virtues with everyone.

Sun Quan once asked Jiang Qin: "Xu Sheng had a personal vendetta with you before, but when you recommend Xu Sheng now, are you planning to follow Qi Xi's example in recommending people with private suspicions?" Jiang Qin replied: "When the subject heard that the lord had recommended the talents, he should not harbor personal grudges, Xu Sheng was loyal and industrious, brave and powerful, had courage and talent, and was a good candidate for the command of ten thousand people." Now that major matters are undecided, the subject should help the country to seek talents, how dare they deceive the talents because of their private opinions! Sun Quan appreciated this.

In the twentieth year of Jian'an (215), Sun Quan attacked Hefei, but despised the other side and was defeated by the Cao general Zhang Liao. When Sun Quan retreated, he was pursued by Cao's army north of Xiaoyaojin, and Jiang Qin fought bravely with Gan Ning, Ling Tong, Lü Meng, and Xu Sheng, so that Sun Quan was able to successfully retreat. After the war, he moved generals to the Kou and led the Governor. Later, he was transferred to the Right Guard, in charge of litigation matters.

In the twenty-fourth year of Jian'an (219), due to the heavy rain in the Han River Valley, a natural disaster occurred that "the Han River overflowed and harmed the people", and Guan Yu attacked by a large ship and captured Yu Ban's 30,000 troops. Therefore, Guan Yu took Xiangguan rice without grain. In this name, Sun Quan attacked Guan Yu, and Jiang Qin led the water army into the water, and when the banshi returned, he fell ill and died on the way. Sun Quan mourned for him and gave Jiang Qin's wife two hundred households and two hundred acres of land to Wuhu.

Jiang Qin was frugal, and Sun Quan once entered the back hall of Jiang Qin's family, and saw that Jiang Qin's mother used a coarse cloth drapery and a plain quilt, and the jiang family's wives and concubines wore ordinary cloth skirts. Sun Quan praised Jiang Qin for being able to be rich but insisted on thrift, and immediately ordered the imperial government to make brocade quilts for Jiang's mother, change the drapery, and use all the clothes of Jiang's wives and concubines with splendid silk.
