In February 1950, Peng Dehuai, who was serving as the commander of the military region in the northwest, received a telegram from Beijing from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee with seven words written in a column: "Children's Learning Problems."
The school-age children in the telegram were all children left behind by Peng Dehuai's two younger brothers.
In 1940, when Peng Dehuai was commanding the Hundred Regiments War against the Japanese in North China, the Kuomintang reactionaries poisoned His relatives in Xiangtan, Hunan, Peng Dehuai's hometown. One night, the second brother Peng Ronghua was killed at home, and the eldest brother Peng Jinhua was arrested and brutally killed a few days later. The two younger brothers left behind eight children. Peng Dehuai has no biological children, and he has a deep affection for these nephews and nieces.
