Rong Guotuan (1937-1968), a native of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. Yung loved and learned table tennis since childhood, and at the age of 15, he represented the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions table tennis team in the competition. In 1958, he was selected to join the Guangdong Provincial Table Tennis Team and made a vow of "winning the world championship in three years". He was subsequently selected as a member of the National Training Team. He painstakingly practiced the straight-shooting fast attack method, the ball has a wide range of paths, many changes, fine serves, pushing, pulling, cutting, rubbing and forehand attack techniques have better inherited and developed the traditional skills of left pushing and right attacking table tennis in China, and created new technologies of serving and not turning, rubbing and not turning. He used tactics flexibly and changeablely, with unique characteristics, and created a "fast, accurate, fierce, and change" near-Taiwan fast attack technical style of table tennis in China. In 1959, at the 25th World Table Tennis Championships, he defeated the table tennis masters of various countries successively, won the first table tennis men's singles world championship for China, and became the first world champion in the table tennis and sports circles in New China. In 1964, at the age of 27, he led the national men's and women's military teams to Moscow to participate in the Five Nations Soldiers Ball International Invitational Tournament, and the Chinese team won five championships. Transferred to the head coach of the national soldiers ball women's team.
In April 1965, the 28th World Table Tennis Championships were held in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia. Under his leadership, the Chinese women's team defeated the Japanese team, which had won the championship six times, with a clear advantage, and won the Cup of Cobilun for the first time.
On June 20, 1968, Rong Guotuan died unjustly. On June 23, 1978, more than a decade after Rong Guotuan's death, the State Sports Commission restored his reputation. In 1984, he was named an outstanding athlete in the 35 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China. In 2009, it was selected as one of the 100 Chinese that have touched since the founding of New China. On September 25, 2019, Rong Guotuan was awarded the personal title of "The Most Beautiful Strivers".
