At that time, Rong Guotuan was just four or five years old, it was naughty time, his father did not have enough time to take care of him because of his work, so he let Rong Guotuan and other children play table tennis together, and Rong Guotuan showed amazing table tennis talent at a young age, which Rong Guotuan's father also greatly appreciated, and encouraged his son to say that if he played well, he would definitely have some achievements.
Because Rong Guotuan's father worked in the school, and the school already had a standard table tennis racket and more professional tools, Rong Guotuan could follow his father to the school to practice. In 1945, when Japan surrendered, Rong Guotuan was already a well-known little football star in the school. After the japanese surrender, Rong Guotuan followed his father to Hong Kong again and went to a school in Hong Kong.
Since his father did not find a regular job after coming to Hong Kong, his book did not last long. In order to make ends meet, Rong Guotuan had to go to the fishing port to do hard work when he was 14 years old. After several twists and turns, his skills were discovered by the boss of Yuxing, who introduced him to a table tennis club, and although the work was hard, he was able to get closer to table tennis and have more time to practice. During this period, he also led the club to a good award in a team competition in Hong Kong.
However, later, because the club owner over-squeezed him, which led to a quarrel between Rong Guotuan and the boss, Rong Guotuan also resigned, and after resigning, Rong Guotuan went to work in a factory. During his work in the factory, Rong Guotuan's talent for table tennis was once again discovered by a leader of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions at that time. The leader felt that Rong Guotuan was a cultivatable talent, so he let Rong Guotuan practice specially, and the salary remained unchanged, and it was such a decision that made Rong Guotuan and the table tennis world champion closer and closer.
After several years of training, Yung Hon's skills were honed and he won the men's singles, men's doubles and team men's table tennis tournaments by an absolute margin in a sports tournament in Hong Kong in 1957. Not long after that, the Japanese table tennis team came to Hong Kong for a friendly visit, and because the Rong Guotuan was already famous in the table tennis industry at that time, the leader asked him to play a friendly match with the Japanese table tennis team. In this friendly match, Rong Guotuan once again defeated a Japanese player who had won the world championship by an absolute advantage.
Rong Guotuan's excellent performance has also received the attention of China's relevant departments, and the leaders of relevant departments also feel that he is a rare and valuable talent, and if he is well trained, there is still hope, after all, China has not won a championship in any world-class sports competition at that time.
Later, under the arrangement of the state, Rong Rong guotuan went to the Guangdong Institute of Physical Education to study, and the people in the sports college at that time felt that Rong Guotuan could definitely achieve a career in the sports industry, and after nearly a year of hard training, Rong Guotuan's skills were improved again, and at the same time, his physical fitness was also significantly improved.
Therefore, at the 25th World Table Tennis Championships held in 1959, Rong Guotuan won the world singles championship with an absolute advantage, which was also the first world championship in Chinese history, when Rong Guotuan instantly became a domestic male idol, coupled with the handsomeness of Rong Guo's leader, there were many suitors after returning to China. However, in 1966, China entered a very special thing, because Rong Guotuan was born in Hong Kong, and Hong Kong was seriously Westernized at that time, so Rong Guotuan himself was also nailed to the label of capitalism. Coupled with the fact that after he won the world championship, he was interviewed by foreign journalists, and some "revolutionaries" described Rong Guotuan as a traitor who colluded with foreigners to betray domestic secrets.
Although Rong Guotuan was obsessed with the motherland, those people did not want to listen to his explanation at all, but only imposed charges on him and forced him to admit his mistake. For the upright Rong Guotuan, this was even worse than killing him, so he decided to use death to prove his innocence and prove that he had not betrayed the motherland.
On the morning of June 20, 1968, Rong Guotuan hanged himself from a crooked neck tree in a duck farm, and in his jacket pocket was a suicide note with his last words, which read: "I love my reputation more than life."
