Positive view of the quick comment: a number of police officers in Hunan have been prosecuted, and the law does not tolerate acting as a "protective umbrella"

author:Look at the news

After a year, Ms. Peng's family recently received the "Indictment" from the People's Procuratorate of Lengshuijiang City, Hunan Province, and only then did they clearly understand the inside story of the death of Ms. Peng's mother and son, and a number of local police officers were suspected of harboring criminal suspects and bending the law for personal gain. The Lengshuijiang Procuratorate said in the "Indictment" that He Kun, Ge Guangliang, and Zhu Jianhong, as judicial personnel, bent the law for personal gain and deliberately shielded a person who knew that he was guilty of a crime and did not expose him to prosecution.

Behind the judicial personnel's bending of the law for personal gain is a heinous and vicious case. In October 2020, Zhou Dan, a man from Shuangfeng County, Loudi City, Hunan Province, drove a rental car and sped into Ms. Peng, who was riding a motorcycle to send two children to school. Ms. Peng was knocked into a roadside farmland and her 14-year-old son was run over by Zhou Dan on the accelerator. Ms. Peng and her son died on the spot, and only Ms. Peng's niece survived. This is not a simple traffic accident, but a long-planned murder - the murderer Zhou Dan drove a car to repeatedly attack and crush the victim, causing two deaths and one injury, and then drove a car to open the door of Ms. Peng's home, and after attempting suicide with a gun, he hid in the mountain with a knife.

Such a heartbreaking behavior began with inexplicable speculation. In January 2017, after a class reunion, Ms. Peng's old classmate Zhou Dan suspected that Ms. Peng had secretly filmed a video of him drunk, leaving him "faceless" and "discredited." Since then, Zhou Dan has not only repeatedly threatened to kill Ms. Peng and her family, but also repeatedly carried homemade coercion or knives to Ms. Peng's home to harass and threaten, and stabbed Ms. Peng and her relatives and friends with a dagger. However, although Ms. Peng called the police many times and the police took Zhou Dan away after committing the crime several times, Zhou Dan evaded legal sanctions again and again, and eventually led to a tragic case. The three police officers indicted by the prosecutor this time are the "protective umbrellas" behind Zhou Dan.

Although the murder occurred only for a moment, the extremely vicious gangsters prepared for it for several years, and when the gangsters tried to put Ms. Peng to death again and again, it was difficult to imagine what kind of mental journey Ms. Peng, who lived in the shadow of death threats all day, went through. What is desperate is that such a crazy gangster can escape the punishment of the law many times and inflict illegal harm again and again. What is infuriating is that in order to shield the gangsters, the police officers involved in the case went so far as to concoct rumors that there were "emotional or economic disputes" in an attempt to wash away the guilt of the gangsters by throwing dirty water on the victims.

Examining this case, people are not only shocked by the huge destructive power of bending the law for personal gain to the rule of law and the public interest in society, but also make people clearly see the erosion of judicial personnel by the so-called "human feelings" and the huge damage caused by it. According to the case information, Zhou Dan's father was Ge Guangliang's uncle, He Kun was once Ge Guangliang's subordinate, and He Kun was the director of the police station who handled the case. On the one hand, entrusted by family affection, on the other hand, under the influence of the feelings of superiors and subordinates, under the conspiracy of many parties, violent crimes of a bad nature have been downplayed again and again, and the gangsters who have no fear have therefore carried out more frenzied revenge, which eventually led to the occurrence of tragic cases.

The warning brought by this case is that the parties in the "human feelings case" seem to be "sentient and righteous", but in fact they are ruthless: to appease those who are wrongdoers is to trample on the public interest and the greatest harm to the parties to the case. Looking further, even such a heinous criminal case is trying to cover up, which is enough to prove that the rule of law concept and professional ethics of the police officers involved have been lost, how can they enforce the law impartially and enforce the law for the people in such a context? This is exactly the case, taking this case as the starting point, Ge Guangliang was also found to have accepted bribes and other criminal facts.

After the facts of the case are revealed to the world, the few police officers involved in the case will be severely punished by the law. Through this case, it has also given the judicial personnel a wake-up call - the law is not merciful, and any attempt to interfere with the judiciary with "human feelings" will inevitably be spurned by the public and punished by the law. If you know today, why did you know it in the first place?
