Portrait of the elderly Tsering Yangzong (june 3).

The 87-year-old Tsering Yangzong lives in the third group of Qudewo Village, Yadui Township, Naitung County, Shannan, Tibet.

For the elderly, the old Tibet had only boundless suffering. Born as a human being, but living like a cow and a horse, filling the stomach is a luxury. My father worked for the local serf owners all day long, in exchange for a full meal, and the family lived on the leftovers of other people's families.

"The body is given by the parents, but the body belongs to the serf master." The children of the serfs, even if there is only one, belong to the father's serf master, and the girls belong to the mother's serf master. Tsering Yangzong recalled.

"The dark clouds in the sky, not the black tritium sewn up, the red sun in the east, there will be a rising day." This is a proverb widely spread in old Tibet, expressing the desire of millions of serfs to be liberated.

In the 1959 democratic reforms, Tsering Yangzong was given personal freedom and was given farmland and livestock. In 1962, when the Sino-Indian border self-defense counterattack war began, Tsering Yangzong signed up for the logistics and transportation team for the first time, followed the People's Liberation Army to the forefront, and defended the hard-won freedom with practical actions.

"I hope to live longer, and now I am very happy, I don't worry about living, I don't worry about eating, I don't worry about wearing." The old man spoke, his face full of happiness.
