On October 29, 2020, the Standing Committee of the Sixth People's Congress of Shenzhen Municipality passed the Health Regulations of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (hereinafter referred to as the Health Regulations), which came into effect on January 1, 2021.

In the "Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Health Regulations", the reporter saw that in Articles 46 and 47, it is clearly stipulated that the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors is prohibited. Where it is difficult to determine whether they have reached adulthood, they shall be required to present their identity documents; those who are unable to produce identity documents shall not be allowed to sell alcoholic beverages to them.

At the same time, sellers of alcoholic beverages and carbonated beverages shall set up health damage warning signs that meet the standards on the shelves or counters.

Implementation has begun in some venues

On January 5, a reporter from Chutian Metropolis Daily contacted a number of local businesses in Shenzhen to inquire about the implementation of the regulations.

The owner of a convenience store in Nanshan District told reporters that at present, you need to carry an ID card to buy alcohol in the store, and if you do not carry it, you need to use other ways to prove that you are an adult.

The staff of the Wal-Mart Shopping Plaza in Bao'an District, Shenzhen Xixiang Qianjin Road Store, told reporters that the current new regulations are more stringent, if the reporter needs to buy wine, he needs to be present to buy and issue relevant documents to prove that he is an adult.

Several supermarkets and convenience stores in Futian District told reporters that they were aware of the new regulations, and the store had never sold alcohol products to minors, and the new regulations had been strictly enforced after they were introduced.

"At present, there are no relevant prompts posted on the shelves of beverages and alcohol products, and the relevant departments have prompted me yesterday and will add them later." A convenience store said.
