Yin Yongcan said that the government will give the matsutake mushrooms to 4,000 elderly and separated family members before the Mid-Autumn Festival, each with 500 grams.
Moon Jae-in said that these matsutake mushrooms are full of Friendship from the DPRK and carry the fragrance of the mountains in the northern part of the peninsula, hoping to send a little comfort to the elderly and separated families who miss their families. According to the Blue House, after the summit talks between the ROK and the DPRK in 2000 and 2007, the DPRK side also presented matsutake mushrooms to then-presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun.
