China Lanzhou network May 12 news Wenchuan earthquake ten years, in the end to tell what to remember what to remember? What kind of life are the children who lived through that disaster now? The reporter asked the three doctors involved in the treatment of children in the earthquake at the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing Medical University, and they all said: We are very relieved to hear that the children are very good.

Reporter's Note:

This interview didn't make me cry or grieve, as I thought. In fact, in the two or three days after the interview, I ate and slept well, and maybe I smiled at the corners of my mouth in my dreams. Because, when you know, those former wounds have faded, those former uneasiness has calmed down - they have lived seriously for ten years, and they have worked hard to grow up. Everything was fine

01. "It's not indifference, it's because there's no time to be sad"

At first, when Qiu Lin, the director of burn plastic surgery, mentioned the name Wang Bin, she couldn't remember.

"The most beautiful little volunteer", "little hero of earthquake relief" and "little angel with broken arm", Wang Bin, who was 8 years old at the time, with many halos and glory, received attention from all over the country. With one arm in her hand, she bounced to the doctor's office to sing, comforting the other children in the ward, and no one did not love her.

However, Dr. Qiu Lin, who lived with Wang Bin day and night, could not remember the name for a while. At our reminder, Qiu Lin said, "Oh! You mean she, the little girl who was first sent, smiled very well! ”

Forgetting is because Qiu Lin can hardly recall.

From the evening of May 12, when injured children were taken to the hospital one after another, until a month later, or even longer, qiu Lin heard the child's cry outside the ward every night when he left the hospital. Sometimes it's a few short sounds, sometimes it's a long, long cry.

Even if he hadn't eaten two mouthfuls of food in a day, Qiu Lin had only casually picked up a few chopsticks when he returned home, washed and laid down on the bed. Then vent the emotions that have accumulated for a day and cry involuntarily.

Even if she hadn't been there, it was like experiencing it herself.

4th floor of Building 5. At that time, the burn plastic surgery and orthopedic department of the Heavy Medicine Children's Hospital happened to be on the same floor, and the hospital set up all the wards on this floor as earthquake relief wards, all of which were used to treat children injured in the earthquake.

One morning on the 10th of May. Qiu Lin couldn't remember the specific day, but suddenly dozens of children were sent from Beichuan. But there was no hectic, and almost all the medical staff and administrative staff of the whole hospital were mobilized, and they were working in an orderly manner.

Pick up and drop off stretchers one by one, push up the elevator, and push into the ward. The medical staff of the laboratory department was already waiting in the ward, and the doctor immediately began to conduct various initial examinations, and the nurses began to infuse the children. Subsequently, two groups of doctors from the Orthopedics and Burns Plastic Surgery department immediately entered the ward and worked simultaneously – the orthopedic surgeon examined the injury and the burn plastic surgeon debridement.

Mutilated limbs, bones directly exposed to the outside, red muscles tumbled out. And the children's faces.

As he spoke, Qiu Lin suddenly stopped, unscrewed the mineral water in his hand and took a sip. "A lot of people have asked me if I was crying when I saw this. It's not apathy, it's no time to be sad. ”

02. "I was very happy to see on TV that she was doing well in Kitagawa"

Li Ming, director of the Department of Orthopedics, saw Guo Dongmei's interview on television a few days ago. After completing her studies, Guo Dongmei returned to her hometown in Beichuan and became a management accountant. With a prosthesis, she runs on the bumpy road between the villages, working steadily in the ordinary posts in the township.

Li Ming called Guo Dongmei. On the phone, the two people happily chatted about the latest situation, and Li Ming listened to Guo Dongmei talk about future plans. At the end, Guo Dongmei said, thank you for allowing me to continue to embrace this beautiful world.

When the earthquake struck 10 years ago, Li Ming was on vacation in his hometown. Knowing that the earthquake was over, he pulled out his leg and ran to the station, returning to the hospital the same day.

Guo Dongmei was taken to the hospital in a severe coma, her left leg had been amputated, her right leg was also seriously injured, and she also had sepsis and acute kidney failure. In order to reduce stress and prevent high-energy injuries from causing osteofascial syndrome, to preserve Guo Dongmei's only remaining right leg, her lower leg was cut through a long opening, from the knee joint to the ankle.

Guo Dongmei was 16 years old that year, a student at Beichuan Middle School, and only 3 of the 50 people in her class survived.

The beautiful and bright flower girl, after both legs are gone, can only sit in a wheelchair, think about it can't bear it. Before and after, Li Ming and colleagues performed more than ten surgeries for Guo Dongmei.

None of the 100 children who were treated at the Heavy Medicine Children's Hospital at that time died, not a single case of re-infection, and none of them had another amputation.

"This is the most tiring time I have been a doctor in my life, and I am most proud of it."

03. "Auntie will definitely help you get your hands back"

In Professor Li Tingyu's computer, the folders are neatly arranged by year. She clicked on the 2008 one to show us.

"This is Wang Bin, you see how well she smiles." Professor Li Tingyu pointed to a photo and said. In the photo, she and Wang Bin walked together, and on that day, Wang Bin was discharged from the hospital, and Li Tingyu came to send her.

At that time, 8-year-old Wang Bin was studying at the primary school in Wenhua Town, Liangping County, Chongqing, and when the teaching building was about to collapse, she had already run out, but turned back to find her classmates. When wang bin woke up, he found himself lying in the ICU ward of the Children's Hospital of The Heavy Medicine, with one hand gone.

"She cried and shouted, 'I want my hands,' and I told her that my aunt couldn't do it now, but she would definitely help you get your hands back later." Li Tingyu was the president of the hospital at that time and also the commander-in-chief of earthquake relief, and she made a promise to Wang Bin in front of everyone.

She thought to herself that only by helping her to put on a prosthetic leg could she relax her mind.

At first, Wang Bin did not eat or drink, nor did he talk to people. Li Tingyu and the doctors in the ICU ward worked together to find ways to make her happy and buy her favorite Barbie doll. Every morning at 7:30, Li Tingyu will come to the ward on time to talk with Wang Bin.

The smile gradually returned to the face of this kind little girl. After being transferred from the ICU to the earthquake relief ward, she began to "visit the door" and ran to other wards to comfort others. Li Tingyu remembered very clearly what Wang Bin had said, "If you bite your teeth, it won't hurt, and you can see that I am fine." ”

After Wang Bin was discharged from the hospital, the matter of "finding hands" has not been put down in Li Tingyu's heart, and he inquired around about the hospital where prosthetic limbs could be installed, but Wang Bin's right arm was broken from the shoulder joint, and there was no bone that could support the prosthesis, which was difficult to install.

In 2011, Li Tingyu heard that the University of Chinese hong Kong had a special prosthetic leg that suited Wang Bin, so she immediately contacted her. Wang Bin said that he had successfully installed a prosthesis with the help of the Beijing Red Cross, which made Li Tingyu very pleased.

The child's "hand" was finally found.

For 10 years, the two men have been on the phone. In the Spring Festival of 2018, Wang Bin called Li Tingyu and said that he was in his third year of high school and planned to enter a normal college as a kindergarten teacher. Now, with the college entrance examination approaching, Li Tingyu always wanted to ask Wang Bin how he was preparing, and he was afraid that he would distract her.

Picking up the phone, Li Tingyu thought to himself, as long as the child is admitted to the ideal university, it will be assured. Put down the phone again.
