Draft G20 communiqué: G20 leaders said they would remain committed to limiting global warming to "well below" 2 degrees Celsius and "working to limit it to 1.5 degrees Celsius"; they would commit to ensuring that at least 30 percent of the world's land and sea were protected by 2030; they would commit to phase out ineffective fossil fuel subsidies "in the medium term"; and they would commit to "do their best" to stop new coal-fired power generation capacity projects in the "2030s" International public financial support for new coal-fired power plants overseas will be halted by the end of 2021; G20 leaders will approve a global minimum tax agreement, which they hope will enter into force globally in 2023.
