Iranian President Ibrahim Lehi said during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow that Tehran had submitted a draft 20-year strategic cooperation agreement to Moscow, according to the Russian Satellite News Agency reported on January 20.

Iran's Tasnim News Agency quoted Lehi as saying: "We have submitted to the Russian side a draft cooperation agreement that can define the level of bilateral relations for 20 years." We are working to increase the volume of trade with Russia and will make great efforts in this regard. ”

He also noted that Iran and Russia have good experience in counterterrorism cooperation in Syria, which can serve as a basis for further cooperation.

Lehi's first trip to Moscow on Wednesday since the start of his presidency in August 2021 was reported.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said Lehi's visit to Russia was very important and that as part of the visit, it was necessary to "take stock of relations" "taking into account the changes in Iran's leadership".

Lavrov stressed that the two sides will also discuss the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) of the Iran nuclear deal, the economic agenda, international policy issues, and work at the United Nations and other international organizations.

During the visit on Thursday (20th), Lehi will speak at the plenary session of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
