At noon on September 24, in Magang Village, Dushu Town, Fangcheng County, Nanyang, Henan Province, a grandmother rode an electric car to pick up her grandson from school and was swept away by floodwaters when she passed a bridge, and both were unfortunately killed when they were found. Many local villagers said that the bridge was too low and would be flooded when it rained.

On September 25, a villager in Magang Village, Dushu Town, Fangcheng County, told Jimu News that at about 12 noon on the 24th, a female villager surnamed He in Daxinzhuang rode an electric car to pick up her 11-year-old grandson to go home. When they passed a bridge over the village's Dry Ditch River, they were swept into the river by floodwaters. A number of villagers spontaneously launched a search and rescue, and rescue team members then rushed to the scene and searched along the river. At about 3 p.m. on the same day, the villagers found the adult about 1 mile downstream of the bridge, but unfortunately died. At about 7 p.m. that night, the villagers and rescue team members found the boy about 2 miles downstream of the bridge, and he also died.

The scene of the incident

According to the villager, the bridge where the incident occurred was built 4 or 5 years ago, the bridge body is very low, usually as long as it rains, it will be flooded, and the villagers dare not cross the river at this time. In the past, villagers in the local area were washed into the river when they crossed the river from the bridge, but this is the first time that they have died. Heavy rain fell on the day, the water level of the Dry Gully Rose, and the bridge deck was flooded.

Another villager in Magang Village told Jimu News that shortly after the incident, he rushed to the scene and searched for the villagers along the riverbank with several villagers. At first, the river was so large that villagers could only search along both sides of the river and could not go down the river to search. After the river receded, the two villagers first found the remains of the adult in the river. At about 7 p.m., he and more than 10 other villagers and rescue team members found the boy's body in the lower river. At that time, the boy's body was blocked by a bundle of cables in the river channel, otherwise it could have been washed farther away.

According to the villager, heavy rain began to fall at about 10 o'clock in the morning of the 24th, and it rained until 2 p.m., and the water of the Dry Ditch River soared, flooding the Dry Ditch Bridge. The dry ditch bridge is indeed too low, and it is impassable after a flood, and after the drowning of people this time, the bridge must be rebuilt.
