On the morning of July 14, Shenyang Sujiatun Wild Protection volunteers successfully rescued a national second-level protected animal night heron during the patrol, and handed over the night heron to the district wildlife protection department.
At about 8 o'clock on the same day, when Yebao volunteers and others patrolled to the vicinity of wanggang bridge in Sujiatun District, they found a gray sharp-billed "strange bird" in the roadside farmland with open wings and fluttering, but could not fly. After finding the abnormality, the volunteers quickly got out of the car for inspection, and after preliminary examination, the bird was unable to fly due to poisoning by eating pesticides by mistake.
Volunteers quickly contacted the sujiatun district wildlife protection department, and the staff confirmed that the bird was a night heron, a national second-level protected animal, inhabiting and active in streams, ponds, rivers, swamps and large trees and bamboo forests near the plains and low hilly areas, often hidden in swamps, shrubs or forests during the day, and active at night and at night, feeding on animal foods such as fish, shrimp and aquatic insects. After figuring out the identity of the bird, the volunteers carefully placed the protected animal night heron. Subsequently, the staff of the district wildlife protection department rushed to the scene, thanked the volunteers for rescuing the night heron, and handled the relevant handover procedures.
