With a crisp cry of the yellow-bellied mountain wren warbler, yang Zhifengso, a member of the Wuhan Bird Watching Association, took a photo and fixed it as the 429th new record of birds in Wuhan. As a result, the number of new birds harvested in Wuhan this year has reached 8, which has exceeded last year's 7 and the second highest since 2016.
"The whereabouts of the wren warbler were discovered in June, and after several reviews by experts, it was determined at the end of July as the 429th new bird record and announced to the public." Yan Jun, president of the Wuhan Bird Watching Association, explained today.
Replay the picture of the encounter with the yellow-bellied mountain wren warbler: On the morning of June 1, Yang Zhifeng was doing bird monitoring near leopard lake in the East Lake High-tech Zone, and suddenly, a very strange bird roared into his ears, looking for prestige, 50 meters away there was a small bird standing on the branch of the bush and chirping, Yang Zhifeng quickly took a photo to lock, and then it flashed into the grass and became invisible.

"Bird watching for many years, the birdsong in Han is mostly more familiar, hearing strange birdsong, intuition tells me that it is likely to be a new friend coming." Yang Zhifeng introduced that the place where the bird was found was on the edge of Leopard Lake, near Longquan Mountain, surrounded by abandoned farmland, shrubland, ditches and fish ponds, where birds enjoyed natural scenery.

The yellow-bellied mountain warbler belongs to the family Finches, and its subspecies are distributed in southern Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau, Guangxi, Hainan and Taiwan.
It is generally active in the south, why did it run north to Wuhan? "It's a typical bird spread, and there are traces to follow." Yan Jun explained that on May 3, 2019, bird watching member Wang Yan found a wren warbler in a bush near a farmland in Chongyang, Xianning. It is the breeding season, and this is the first time that the yellow-bellied mountain wren warbler has been observed in Hubei. Chongyang is adjacent to Jiangxi, and the Leopard Lake where it was found this time is also adjacent to Xianning, so it is likely that it slowly spread from Jiangxi.

The 8 new records of birds discovered this year are as follows: Grey-headed Owl, Grey Forest Owl, Red-necked Owl, Red-headed Grebe, White-throated Forest Wagtail, Large Woodpecker, Golden-headed Fantail Warbler and Yellow-bellied Mountain Wren Warbler, of which Grey Forest Owl and White-throated Forest Owl are national level II key protected wild birds.
The reporter found that most of this year's new records are forest birds, while most of the water birds found last year are. What does the increase in forest birds mean?
"Most of the water birds are hurried passers-by found in the migration, and the spread of forest birds shows that the ecology of Wuhan is getting better and better, and the possibility of forest birds staying in Wuhan is greater." Yan Jun explained that the red-headed stork is generally active in the mountains of Dabie Mountain, Mufu Mountain and Shennongjia, which is rare in the plains, and the same is true of the gray-headed plover, which is a resident bird in the mountainous area of western Hubei, which shows that the birds active in these mountainous areas are also slowly expanding their territory to the plains and cities, and this time the yellow-bellied mountain wren warblers have also spread from neighboring provinces.
How can you keep these new friends and attract more birds to Han? "To go to a higher level of ecology, it is necessary for urban construction to do something and not to do something." Yan Jun said that the place where the new partners of birds are found is generally very "wild", there are mountains and rivers and bushes and other habitats rich and complex original ecology, the complexity of the habitat determines the diversity of birds, such as the probability of encountering new friends of birds in the third phase of Hankou River Beach is very high, and in urban parks, especially in newly built parks, the environment is good, but there are many artificial traces, often trimming and sorting out the park "makeup", the scenery is single, the types of birds are small, it is difficult for new birds to come here, and the frequency of artificial repair should be reduced, leaving a blank space to let it go "Barbaric growth"; for the original ecological environment that is still preserved in the city, as far as possible to maintain the attributes of nature, can not be too much development and utilization.
