Dong Likun said that in mid-to-late August is the concentrated active period of 2-3 year old Tianniu larvae (half a month to 1 month old larvae), most of them are under the epidermis of the tree to gnaw wood, and then dig a hole to excrete the feces out of the trunk, so as not to block their passage to the xylem, so at this time the manual digging efficiency is high, which can effectively reduce the number of Tianniu population. In September and October, when the weather turns cooler and colder, they will drill further into the xylem, and it will be more difficult to catch insects, and they will be more harmful to trees, so it is the golden hour to catch the larvae alive.
