Hammer Murder Case 11/3 Trial Major League for Asian Rights Advocates Calls for Justice

author:American Overseas Chinese Daily Network

The Brooklyn Harbour City Hammer Murder Case will be heard again on November 3, and this time it may decide how the murderer will be dealt with in the future. The American Asian Rights Defense Alliance held a press conference on the 26th, calling on Chinese people from all walks of life to mobilize and participate in a huge protest demonstration outside the court on the 3rd, resolutely demanding that the murderer be sentenced to life imprisonment so that justice can be done.

Chen Shanzhuang, general convener of the Asian American Defense Alliance, pointed out that since August, the families of the victims and community leaders have repeatedly contacted the Brooklyn Prosecutor's Office, but have never received a real answer or commitment. He criticized the prosecution for failing to do its best, and if it had been another ethnic group that had taken three lives, it would never have been the same result. Now that the next trial is set for November 3, the Chinese struggle must continue, sending our voice to the government: "Asians are destined to die!" ”

He stressed that this demonstration is very critical, related to the survival, safety and status of the entire Ethnic Chinese community in New York in the future, and the importance is comparable to the Peter Liang incident. "Chinese people should be self-reliant", I hope that all overseas Chinese will take time out of their busy schedules as much as possible to participate, so that the next generation of children and grandchildren can have a peaceful life.

When the Chinese were grieving and indignant about the loss of three lives, they did not see several politicians stand up and speak for the Chinese. The demonstration coincided with the day after the November 2 election, when the Grand Alliance called for the long-term development and strength of the Chinese people, and that all voters must be mobilized to vote and elect politicians who do not respect the Chinese and do not act for the interests of the Chinese; whoever can help the Chinese speak out, vote for whomever they want, regardless of party.

The wife of the deceased Pan Zimi also attended the press conference on behalf of the victims' families, thanking the community for reaching out to help, so that they felt warm and inspired in their suffering. She expressed great dissatisfaction with the prosecution's approach in the case, saying that "a crime is a crime and must be punished by law", and demanded that the killer be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole, and an account of the deceased.

"Do not erupt in silence, perish in silence!" The trial is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on 3 November, and demonstrations will begin at around 10.30 a.m. at 320 Jay Street outside the Brooklyn Superior Criminal Court. At the same time, the organizers are actively striving to apply for the closure of the nearby streets and set up a large stage outside the court to let the prosecutor know that the Chinese protest is no longer harmonious, and also allow the judge to hear the Chinese people's sad and indignant roar when the court is held.

People can take a number of bus lines to reach the court, such as A, C, F, R bus, B54, B57, B67 bus, etc.

As in the past, the organizers will also arrange a number of minibuses from Chinatown, Flushing and Brooklyn, and it is better to contact and inform the number of people in advance.

At 9:30 a.m., Brooklyn departed from the parking lot of the Golden Emperor Restaurant at 618 62nd Street, Tel: 917-254-3529.

Flushing departs on time from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., one pick-up location behind the library (in front of the U.S. supermarket on Kesina Avenue) and another at 133-35 Roosevelt Ave, tel: 718-666-0912.

Departing at 9:30 a.m. in Manhattan Chinatown, one pick-up location is in front of the Fujian Hometown Association in the United States, addressed at 125 East Broadway; the other is at Rongxin Restaurant on East Broadway at 47 East Broadway, Tel: 646-203-1144.
