At a press conference on Xinjiang-related issues jointly held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region this morning (29 July), some foreign media reporters said that they had "heard" that other foreign journalists would be followed by the police when they went to Xinjiang to conduct interviews.

In response, Xu Guixiang, spokesman for the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People's Government, responded that this situation does not exist.

Xu Guixiang introduced that in the past, violent terrorist activities in Xinjiang were frequent, and after you went, we were also worried about your safety, because terrorists did not distinguish between targets. There is also a situation where the interviewee does not agree to be interviewed, but some reporters force the interview, and the masses may call the police.

Finally, Xu Guixiang stressed, "Although you are generous, you can go by yourself or contact us." If you encounter the kind of obstruction you mentioned, you can report it directly to us. (CCTV reporters Huang Da, Yang Yi, Cao Xiaozheng, Hao Liang)
