Young violinist Teo plays the amorous gypsy: Sarazati's Song of the Wanderer

Song of the Wanderer (Zigeunerweisen, Op. 20) is a violin piece accompanied by an orchestra completed by the Spanish composer Pablo de Sarazati in 1878 and premiered in Leipzig, Germany, the same year. The musical theme is related to the Roma, and in the final stanza uses the melody of Czardas, the same theme used in this part of the music used by Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 13, completed in 1847. The concerto is divided into three movements and lasts about eight minutes.

The piece is Sarasati's most widely circulated violin work and has been very popular among violin players, beginning with recordings by Sarasati himself in 1904, leaving many early recordings.

The song has been used in a number of film and television productions, including a cartoon-style chase scene in Stephen Chow's film Kung Fu, from which the title of the film Song of the Wanderer directed by Japanese director Kiyoshi Suzuki and several of its background music originated.
