Once upon a time there was a mountain, and there was a stone village in the mountain. In this village, the houses are made of stone, the laundry board is made of copper slab stone, and the ditch is paved with a bridge made of stone...
A small hill in Ninghai County, eastern Zhejiang, with a winding pebble road stringing together the Xujiashan Stone Village. According to the "Gazetteer of Ninghai County", at the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, Ye Daqing's father and son, the descendants of Ye Mengding, the right minister, settled here from The Chaos in Huchen Township, Ninghai, and have a history of more than 700 years.
"Our village has always been relatively prosperous in history, and the Ningxiang Ancient Road passes through here." Dai Shenyi, secretary of the party branch of Xumin Village, where the stone village is located, said, "After the highway was opened, we became the end of the traffic, and after the reform and opening up, many people went out to work and were unwilling to come back to build houses, and many stone houses were preserved." ”
Dai Shenyi introduced that most of the existing stone houses in the village were built between the middle and late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, and they were all made of local black basalt stacks. This kind of stone is brass color on the outside, bronze on the inside, and has the sound of gold and stone, and the shape is like a plate, which is a good building material.
The local mountain is far away, the traffic is inconvenient, coupled with the convenience of stone materials, hard stone, the local people use local materials, rely on the mountain to eat the mountain, masonry walls, build stone houses, pave stone roads, build stone bridges, carved stone windows, make stone mills, open stone alleys... Standing at the top of the mountain, nearly 300 stone houses are scattered along the mountain, undulating with the terrain, gradually rising from east to west, forming a unique scenery rarely seen in East China.
Of the stone house building materials in Xujiashan Stone Village, stone accounts for 80% of the building materials - the walls are made of stone blocks stacked on top of each other, and the stone cracks are rarely made of cement or lime. The windows are made of gravel strips to create a simple geometric pattern, the upper frame of the door is placed with a stone slab, the two sides are lined with neat stones, and the bottom is embedded with a smooth stone strip as a threshold... In the eyes of the locals, these stone doors and stone windows are not only strong and affordable, but also comfortable and durable, living in ventilated stone houses, cooling off in the summer.
After hundreds of years of wind and frost, the stone village inevitably shows its decadent appearance, and the luster of the copper plate stone is no longer there, but it adds a vicissitude. When the rain comes, the stones everywhere become moist, and the flowers and plants grow in between, and everywhere they are fresh.
In July 2010, Xujiashan Stone Village was rated as the fifth batch of "China Historical and Cultural Villages".
Mountain village experience, cultural exchange, health vacation, leisure sports, entertainment and shopping... In recent years, the village has overcome difficulties such as poor foundation, remote location, and insufficient funds, introduced high-end homestay industries such as homestay hotels and caravan camping parks, adhered to the concept of "protective development", and repaired the old houses in the village and operated them together with social capital. Nowadays, new tourism formats such as Shicun Porcelain Factory, Yuexiang Hall, Shijian Book Bar, and NiulanFang Bar are booming.
From a "three-more village" with many debts, contradictions and single sticks, to the current "new three more villages" with more income, more honors and more tourists, the per capita annual income of villagers has changed from 3460 yuan in 2006 to 37500 yuan in 2020, and the number of tourists exceeded 500,000 last year.
Morning glory ploughing, sweet potato making wine, weaving bamboo baskets... The villagers work at sunrise and sunset, enjoy themselves in the fields, and the traditional way of life is continued here, just like the contemporary "peach blossom garden". (Reporters Zheng Mengyu and Wei Donghua)
