The predecessor of the Xianghe meatloaf dates back to the Turkic cake more than a thousand years ago. It is said that the Turks, a nomadic people who wandered in the northern steppes of our country at that time, because the beef and mutton were very abundant and the noodles were scarce, when entertaining distinguished guests, the hosts would specially make meat pies with particularly thin skin to show their hospitality. When Ming Chengzu Zhu Di moved the capital to Beijing, a large number of Hui people were relocated to the Xianghe area, and some people opened a shop using ancestral cake-making technology, and meat cakes became a well-known delicacy nearby.
According to legend, the Qianlong Emperor took Liu Yong to Xianghe for a private visit, and wanted to try this famous meatloaf. The meat cake was brought to the table, and the Qianlong Emperor, who had just eaten a bite, was stunned by this crisp and delicious meatloaf, and it turned out that there was such a delicacy in the human world, so he wrote a poem: "There are strange cakes in Xianghe, the old woman has new skills, this restaurant has a meal, forget the world's treasures." "Because of the praise of the Qianlong Emperor, coupled with the fact that the meat cake shop opened along the river with the help of the convenient waterway traffic of the Grand Canal, it is even more famous in the world."
After hundreds of years of inheritance, development and innovation, Xianghe meat cake has reached the highest state of uniform meat filling, thin skin as paper, crispy outside and tender inside, oily but not greasy, moist but not chai, and after-food with aftertaste. Xianghe meat cake has become one of the "top ten special foods that must be tasted" in Hebei Province, and in 2012, it was rated as the business card of langfang city.
In 2020, the collective trademark of Xianghe Meat cake association was successfully registered. On September 16, 2020, the first "Xianghe Meatloaf Demonstration Store" in the county opened its doors, marking that "Xianghe Meatloaf" opened the door to brand development and embarked on the track of industrialization development. Xianghe meat cake has become a beautiful city business card, and it is a must-try dish for foreign tourists to Xianghe. According to local conditions and characteristic development, the tourism brand of "Canal Station, Hexiangxiang River" has also attracted the attention of tourists in Beijing, Tianjin and surrounding areas.
